Interesting question for people with blown S/Cs...
Ok, so we all know that some of the SC owners around here have had issues with their units leaking, blowing, or failing. There have been some who have been real quick with jumping on the "lets blame the pulleys bandwagon."
I for one do not think the pulley itself can cause this, I have spoken to several good tuners and they all seem to agree that it is probably more of an issue of improper installation, but whatever.
Let us assume for the sake of argument that the pulleys could cause such problems. We have one TRD pulley and two aftermarket pulleys on the market at this point, right? ZPI 9.0psi and NST 9.5psi
THOSE OF YOU WITH AFTERMARKET SC PULLEYS WHO HAVE HAD S/C FAILURE.... WHICH PULLEY WERE YOU USING AT THE TIME ???
Also, please lets keep all the comments about "TRD sucks," or "TRD rules you guys suck," or "mod and I told you so," etc. out of this one. PLEASE.

No issues with my sc and the NST pulley. If a pulley can cause the issues a handfull of people have experienced, then the issues is going to happen to you anyways since all the pulley does is increase rotational speed of the sc. I for one say a pulley will not cause the issues people are having.

Since the issue at hand are the 9.5 psi pulleys...I don't think those in particular are contributing to any problems. The 12 psi is a different story and I really don't have an opinion of that.

Well since technically the ftrim and the shaft system / bearings vortech uses are rated for 60K max rpm / 20psi peak boost I think the pulleys we use are safe as with the 9.5 psi pulley we are turning far far less than that, even with the 12 psi we are still way below rated limits.

This poll is great. So many people claim that the supercharger is falling apart when you add a pulle, yet look at how many people have no problems. ( I really think its the header and/or dealer installs causing the problems)
Someone should start a thread for headers like this one.

Yea, I want to run at LEAST 10 PSI for the S/C I will be getting if that is not too much. I don't know who makes the 10 PSI belts or the 12 PSI belts. Can anyone help me out on this?

The good thing about the TRD reflash is that they tune it pretty conservatively with a very rich air/fuel mixture. You can run a 9.5 psi pulley and not worry about a tune. Although, there probably is a few hp to be gained with a good tuning from a piggyback or something.
However, say goodbye to warranty.
