i jus checked the plugs n they were ok nothing out of the usual n f/ic wires were fine as well....could the fuel pump going out only cause it to take long to start up or would it affect driveing as well?

Dear John,
You may want to look into the AEM FIC it self, As we have seen many of those units add additional crank time to starting, mostly due to the way it intercepts cam/crank signals. Some work like oem.. Some take extra cranks!
I would say 4 turns on a AEM FIC is normal. But maybe check with others here, and or friends.
Have a good day
