Ken Gushi Switches to 2az for Drifting
Anyone have anymore information on Gushi's Setup? Perhaps Rob can chime in here cause the article states that they talked to Rado for tips on the Motor. Gushi no longer is running the BEAMS motor. They are now running our very own 2az in the car!!! Woot Woot! I was always wondering why someone didn't use the factory motor. I thought it was an issue with the Firewall rule, but apparently not. Check it out...RWD tC with 2az.

Just an FYI Travis.....
Q:
How can I make my scion tC rear wheel drive? I am willing to spend some hard cash for it. - by Alexey

Hey Alexey,
If you want to convert your tC to rwd the way we did, you will have to import some parts from Japan. The rear subframe and drive train from a Toyota Avensis. The transmission we use is a G-Force dog box which costs about $7000. You will also have to modify your front cross member to change the layout of your motor to sit vertically. In the end, you will probably end up spending about $50,000 to properly do everything right. I'm not sure if you think that is worth the money but if you want it, it can be done.

Doubled over from our forum..
I don't see how the price would come out to $50k. I wouldn't use a Dog Box and instead use an MR2 trans or similar. The Bell housing would have to be customized there is no getting around that one. And the rear end from the Avensis according to RS*R is a direct bolt-on with little customization. The Driveshaft they said had to be customized, but the tC's undercarrige already has a tunnel for a rear drive shaft. Perhaps Gushi is working in cost associated with fueling, turbo system and other stuff. Just don't see where $50k comes into play when you are not building Dog Box transmissions into the mix.

ok...so dog box is 7k....so 43k......this is not just a straight forward swap and everything works fine....fueling, exhaust everything has to be changed and obviously that adds up. Now they are probably using top quality material and components so might be able to do it cheaper. This would be a fun project but for the weekend warrior you going to end up spending quite a bit of your own money....this definitely wont be a sub 20k project. Even though the rear end might be a drop end...do you think shipping that, or finding that from Japan is going to be a cheap or easy endeavor?
Now that being said...if you do take this on though....sign me up for helping!!

That's why I would like to know the details so I could get a cost est. for me since the price will vary per person depending on their mechanical skills. That's one of those far into the future projects though. I will never get rid of my tC unless some unforseen force takes it from me.
