Facepalm worthy. I figure someone would eventually ask this question.

FWD cars usually have the motor placed in the engine bay in the horizontal position looking towards the car because of the placement of the transmission. RWD cars have the motor in in a vertical position because the transmission has to connect and go towards the rear of the car through the driveshaft. This would be impossible to do if the 2az motor was in the horizontal position.

Honest newbie question. go easy fellas. haha. you have to start somewhere.

I believe to do that, you have to run a Transfer Case. Evo's are AWD but their motors are Horizontal like ours. To power the Rear, they use a Transfer Case.

if it is not consistent and reliable enough, as he said, not to hard to see why they did this. They have been trying for 2 years now with it

AWD is a whole different beast of its own. I was just comparing FWD/RWD in general

nice pictures, I want KG intercooler setup! that looks functional for-real
Im still baffled that left 3sge, I understand that they were having problems but with a team budget like that it should have been taken care of.

unless this comes back to driver mod.
I just dont see the 2az outperforming the 3sgte
do we even have oil squiters in the block

Yea but you would still have to run a Transfer case in order to run it Horizontal.

Nothing you can do about a motor that's unreliable. It broke just about every event they went to.

To put another thing into perspective. Their BEAMS motor was making around 400whp. Their 2az dropped in there....Makes 636whp. And Yes the 2nd gen 2az has oil squirters in the block.

Does another 236whp extra + reliability equate to outperforming the BEAMS....it does in my book.

MR2 = 3sgte

Gushi = 3sge BEAMS motor. Different motor.

But yeah it's a beast at 636whp, but these numbers are not a, how should I put it......not that surprising. We have regular dudes making 760+whp on a street tC, Rado making 900whp, PTuning making 600whp....all on the 2az. So, it's not like it's never been done.

Honestly I don’t know Atl kind of sucked for the scion guys. Tanner took #1 in
qualifying. In his first run the other car blew his motor all over the track started on fire. In gushis first run the other car ran into the wall on the way down the hill. Gushi took it. But that was it for the top 32 then for the top 16 they put tanner vs. gushi. Tanner left gushi on the way down in the first run lots of distance between the two. 2nd run Tanner clipped Gushi's car he spun out. Gave the win to gushi. Then top 8 came Fosburg vs Gushi and fosburg nailed Gushi's car in the back in the 2nd run and he took the fing win. It was bull____. Not a fan of of that nos car anymore. Seemed like the judges all day were putting the people they wanted in and not the people who should have won it was dumb.

I was watching the live Feed via the Net since I couldn't make it down this year. This make 2 years in a row now that I missed FD in Atl...kinda bummed, but the Live online Feed was super cool. And I have to say that the judges were NOT being consistent in their decisions.

1) Tanner vs Gushi. Gushi's car should have NOT slowed down during the down hill return which caused Tanner to give him the tap and spin him out. Thus they awarded Gushi the win.

2) Rhys collided with DMAC in the first initiation and clearly DMAC stalled his car and basically shut it down in Mid Drift. Now coming in at 90+mph in the first initiation and then having a car shut down on you causing you to collide with it...should NOT be your fault. They gave DMAC the win.

3) Last controversial decision was when Gushi battled Foresburg. Gushi's car clearly slowed down in the Horseshoe causing Foresburg to collide with his rear end. Does Gushi get the win? NOPE, win Goes to Foresburg and the judges say Gushi slowed down there so it was his fault....

Now the 3 incident is completely backwards from the first two. FD judges FAIL. They need to bring the Japanese judges over for EVERY round of FD instead of just the popular California ones.
