Default Lets see what ur workin with

im sittin here, overly bored at work and decided to see how a general discussion would go. basically lets see/hear on all your setups, power gains, future goals, any unfortunate mishaps with boost, future mods and so on and so forth. this will also be imho, a good guide for noobs to get a general idea of what other people have, and give them a good starting point on their journey towards boost.

i guess ill start it off

stock engine internals (for now)
precision 5431b t3/t4
tial 38mm wastegate
hks ssqv
top mount mani
2.5" downpipe
70mm tsudo s2 catback
fmic w/ 2.5" piping
walboro 255lph fuel pump
dw 550cc injectors
aem fic (tuned by kenny @ "the shop" in norwalk, ct)
dezod oil feed/return lines
ngk 1 step colder plugs

on my current setup, im at 299 hp/270tq.

future plans: (maybe by next summer it'll be done)

je pistons
manley rods
darton sleeve
port&polish head
bc stage 2 cams
valves/valve spring&retainers (not sure which as of yet)
quaife lsd
cc lightened flywheel
stronger clutch (not sure what brand to go w yet)

and im sure there will be other things that i can think of along the way.

lets see i first boosted my car in 08 with a TT simple kit the turbo died after about a year

i have a 5857B t3/t4 the "b" means it has a B compressor cover since thats all that fits on the simple kit.
2" hot side piping
2.5cold side piping
walboro 255lph fuel pump
Greddy Type RS BoV
DW700cc injectors
Tial 38MM WG
Ptuning 3" turbo back exhaust.

i got tuned at first by MAC autosports in Colorado
then all my tuning after that was done by Garabaldy

my plans for the future are..... sekrit for now. excpet for the plans to build my motor.

my mishaps have been the short lived turbo. i've broken my driver side axle but i think that was due to a tear in the CV boot because when i pulled it off there was only dust inside of it. never found a tear though. i sheered 3rd gear off my stock tranny i'm on my 3rd clutch master cylinder 2nd clutch. i've had it pretty easy compared to some on here.

Man, I could right a book on this. lol

Sept 2008
ZPI kit put on and tuned by ESP Performance at 12 psi.
A few manifold cracking issues, and 1 blown 16g turbo.
300hp
Sept 2010
Swapped the ZPI kit for a custom blow-through kit with a Boostflow manifold and downpipe combo with 60 trim turbo.
350 hp

Tuned AWESOME by Mike aka M-tuned, to 12-14 psi. Mike and I pushed the limits of the stock motor on this kit being that I had a built motor ready to go in. Eventually cylinder 1 rod had enough and came through the block.

May 2011-present
Fully Built Cylinder Head and Non-sleeved Short Block.
Dezod Fuel return system
750cc Injectors
OS Giken LSD
Competition Clutch and Lightweight Flywheel.
Descendant turbo kit and 3" exhaust.
371hp 377 ft lbs on 17 psi tuned by Eric P at the World Motorsports East shop.

I first boosted with 24,000 miles on the car, and the motor didnt pop until 55,000. After being abused pretty good on the stock motor. The car is not my daily driver, so when I drove it, it was driven hard.

I would like to upgrade the turbo and get a 44mm wastegate fabbed onto the manifold being as we experieced moderate boost creep.

I love how the car is right now. SAFE, usable power.

stock block
frankenstien turbo kit
turbonetics cast manifold
turbonetics downpipe
garret 57 trim .63 ar
tial 38 mm wastegate
HKS limited black BOV
PTuning 630cc injectors
Dezod I/C piping
Don't know what IC
PTuning return fuel system
1 step colder plugs
CC s-pipe
ARK n1 catback 2.5inch from turbo back.
AEM FIC tuned by dan/guru at.. all over metro detroit.
custom clutch by falcon clutch
fidanza 9.5lbs flywheel

was 286whp/286tq on dyno before return fuel system
probably around 300 whp now though.
on roughly 10 psi
also, i've never had any issues with the tune. This is in michigan where it rains one day, hot and sunny the next, snowing the day after, and then the next day has all of that combined lol

all of my mishaps came with the install. basically all i can say is, take your time. i put the wrong fitting on my oil feed so once i started my car after having my tuner drive a half hour to me (well he was driving godzilla so probably only like 10 minutes for him) oil started pouring out all over my turbo and floor so that was that for the day.
got that fixed and then when we were doing pulls on the freeway, i had a stripped tbolt clamp that i thought was tight enough (and it wasn't) it kept blowing off once it would hit 5 psi.

I just had to replace my axle, that's probably the only thing that has come from the turbo that isn't my fault lol

boost creep will get ya...lol...i have a 9psi spring in my tial right now and im slowly creepin up to 12 psi at higher rpms. idk if its the wastegate, or the manifold right now or a combination of both but my car is tuned for it, but catch 22 is that i have 121k on my motor. so far i have about 11k boosted miles on it and it seems to be holdin up well.

Jotech does some amazing things with the TC. I'm down the street from them and I hope they can tune my setup but they are pricey.

yeah, but they are very pricey... I was gonna go to Tony @ T1 but he doesn't tune piggyback ecu (he doesn't believe in piggyback), he tunes standalone only. ONe of the best tuner in TX (hands down). what is your current setup?

Like in my other posts im not a huge fan of the lack of tuners but the car runs safe with only a few hick ups and for right now im extremely happy ill be getting some tweaks from Aaron at Unichip in the next few weeks. I have a AEM sitting here that just needs a harness made then that can go in but im in no rush!
