Default Looks like Im going to be selling rebuild kits for the s/c

Just as the title says, it looks as if Im going to be selling rebuilds for the supercharger. It will include the shaft seal, 2 of the big bearings (I forget the name rite now) the ones the large gear sits on, and finally 2 impeller bearings. These impeller bearings though are the ****. Period. They are speed rated in excess of 100k rpm (the stocker is good too 65k). They are ceramic ***** so they weigh less which will allow you to spool quicker. The person I have making these bearings makes bearings for the Top Fuel dragsters and he assured me they would be the best thing you could get for the car. The best part though is going to be the price. I can sell this whole kit for 260 dollars with shipping to you!!! Supercharger Rebuilds wants 600 dollars for the same thing, but with slower speed rated bearings. Ill be putting these ceramic bearings in this weekend, as I just got the first set earlier today (currently stuck at work, GRRR). The other benefit to these bearings is their life-span, since the ***** are ceramic they have a much much greater life span then traditional stainless ***** aswell as the ability to operate at much higher temperatures safely (UPPED BOOST!) Hopefully if all goes as planned I can start selling the rebuild kits this up coming week. I will just sell the impeller bearing if thats all you need, PM me though on that on.

Recap-
Full rebuild kit - 260 dollars with everything you will need.
Supercharger rebuilds charges 600 for an inferior kit.

Thats awesome Kik. But in respects to the warranty, what if they took apart the S/C. You think they could tell a difference and be like, "hey, this looks modified?" I would think about doing this before my S/C install so that I have no issues taking off the S/C from inside the car...

Honestly its not that easy, but its one of those things, is it worth saving 350 dollars to learn? There are alot of walk throughs online on how to do it. Its pretty self explanitory though. You pretty much will break your impeller bearing when you open it though, and you do have to press 2 of the bearings back in with a press or a mallet and a good eye. lol. You cant really tell the difference unless you open it and read the bearing and see that it doesnt say "vortech thrust" anymore. I think though if you run into issues with the blower and its under warranty though toyota just replaces it and doesnt bother opening it up. Granted there is no way that I can see aside from the paint on the bolt that holds the gears together. If you look at my seal repair thread you can see it there, its the 13mm bolt that has the white goo on it. This is more one of those your blower is out of warranty and your seal went out, or your bearings are chattering. Im bad at fixing things though honestly.

what a great idea this kit is; our sc is within a year of warranty end and a pulley is looming on the horizon for us. Something like this gives us some piece of mind making a mod that has worked ok for some and caused issues for others.
nice job

Well I got the bearing in the car, its working excellently. There has been no issues thus far with it (granted my BPV is messed up and I have a leak some-where). Ill be ready Sunday night to most likely start taking orders if anyone is interested. I may be able to offer a service for an additional amount of money to have the blower rebuilt and the bearings installed. I dont know about that yet though.

Good work there Kik Will pm you on more details on the rebuild kit.

In theory, this should work as well in the 07-08 s/c right? since the only difference would be less 1 idler pulley at the bracket side.

I was wondering if your bearing buddy could fabricate or find the corresponding ceramic bearings for the 2 in the compressor housing which are currently gated ones. I was just curious if that would significantly bring down the 'chattering' of the s/c during idle if all the bearings replaced were ceramic, this would silence the inherent chatter and make the s/c sound more like a turbo and producing a spooling sound when spinning :D

Something to think about and consider.

In response to your question, yes, he could make the bearings all ceramic.

This rebuild kit will actually work on ALL vortech blowers.

So I have had the new ceramic bearing in for a few days now and here is my review. At first inital start up the most god aweful noise in the history of the world before the oil started circulating and lubeing up everything. With just 1 ceramic bearing almost all the chatter is eliminated and all you hear is a nice high pitched whirrrrr. Its very very loud now, and you can definetly hear that the car is supercharged now. I drove it to toyota yesterday and their service drive is the size of a small warehouse, when I pulled in everyone in there stopped and started staring at my car. As a matter of fact even the valet kid kept asking "Wow I bet you can pull some serious @$$ with that huh". The car seems to be a bit more eager to spool up. I cant really tell if its making a difference because im getting hardcore compressor surge or the BPV is releasing too early. Long story on both but ill post up a video tomorrow possibly or thursday of what it sounds like. Im putting the 9.5 NST pulley back on wednesday night. It should be pretty loud now..... Alas the supercharger finally sounds like a supercharger and not just a squeaky belt.
