Default Lovely, my lovely exhaust leak

Ok so...i have an exhaust leak, it's right where the turbo connects to the manifold, it is NOT fun. it makes my car loud and i'm preeeeeeeetty sure i'm losing something performance wise.

anyways, so far. i have tried a gasket.
(the tempuratures and exhaust fumes split that thing in half)

I've tried copper silicone gasket maker
(blasted those things right all over my engine bay)

any other solutions?

the reason this all is happening is because treadstone sent me some bolts that are too long. instead of sending me bolts that are the right size, they thought it would be funny to send me bolts that are too long with washers that fit right in the tiny gap...in turn not making the perfect seal.

can i cut the bolts and do that? hmm.

also: If anybody has a spare t3 turbo>>manifold gasket that they can sell me i'll take it off your hands with a quickness.

bleh I have the same issue with my turbo manifold sitting flush against the motor. Tried two different gaskets and even had the manifold machined flat but no go. Wish I could help ya man but I definitely feel the annoyance lol...

damnit. no beans for me then. haha

i'm thinking i should just take a bolt and bring it to lowes and get a bunch of bolts that are a tad bit shorter to make it sit really flush.

i'd cut the bolts...get a haxsaw and cut away..just not too much...taper the end after you cut so the mangled threads go in easy...

look in the yellow pages and find bolt place, and go get the riht ones. i have found that trying to make do with wrong parts will eventually lead to frusration, and usually in my case, twice the money..lol

i also had this problem on y wife's car. her's was leaking at the manifold/head, AND at the manifold/turbo. i doubled up the gaskets in both places and haven't had a prblem since!

If the gasket used is stainless or copper it SHOULD stop the leak. If it is not solving the problem, there may be more than meets the eye. The flanges used should be 1/2" thick or even 3/8" thick, which to warp a flange that thick means you have some hellified EGTs and need to address that first.

i got an sce copper turbine inlet gasket, part # 9429. havent had a leak scince. also insted of cutting the bolts, you can take the bolts to home depot, see what size they are, (im geussing M8 x 1.25), and then get some shorter ones. :D

I figured it should be thicker than it really was. Im 110% positive that it was NOT that thick, it was a really thin piece of sheet metal. :/ anybody have a spare??

I am referring to the flange on the manifold, not the gasket being that thick

Oh, well. My flange is that thick for sure. But the unsealed connection lets the exhaust blast on one side of thegasket and not the other anbd somehow split it.

I think they should be thicker anyways haha. Anybody have extras?

why don't you call up treadstone and yell at them? If know one ever lets them know about their downfalls, they will never get better. Call and _____ them out. and have them send you the correct bolts.
