Teflon tape is NOT your friend, pipe threaded sealant (paste) is your friend.

You don't have to worry about it clogging anything up and restricting oil flow.

ahh pipe dope (thats what we called it...lol) most pipe dope has little bits of teflon in it and can still clog that hole if not carefull about it (found this out on a compressor, drain hole wouldnt drain...lol). but teflon tape has served me well on 3 installs. you just got to be smart about it.

it will be fine but its extra insurance that nothing but air gets to it. if you got it might as well use it.

its better to get more threads in for sure. dont do anything els till you clean those threads out with a tap, you could end up just doing more harm than good.

btw here is a better pic but its preinstall of turbo kit (didnt keep the filter for long so i dont want to hear it from anyone...lol)

so you see that there isnt much of the coupling going into the head. you have to watch it and make sure it doesnt leak on ya...mine never did, teflon tape helped out there.

oh and about taping it you may get some shards that may fall into the engine...so by all means be carefull with it and remember that those are tappered threads to by tapping it you will widen it out which will help for a standard 1/8th fitting to fit better if you go all the way. but again you run a high risk of getting shards into the engine so try not to go all the way but far enough to be able to get more than 2 threads on that coupling.

really you dont want to run a filter like that...it works but for safety of the engine its better to have a catch can or route a hose to your intake pipe just after the maf but befor the turbo...lol...
