Money well spent?

Money well spent?
I'm sure someone somewhere has posted this before, but I was wondering how much money have you guys spent on your tC as far as boosting/forced induction goes? I know how much it cost me and how much it can cost, but I'm looking more for how much you actaully spent and did you think it was worth it? Also, how much do you think the parts you bought should have cost? Future boosted tC would be owners chime in too!

My current build bill is pretty high....a little over 10k with labor included and I still have a few upgrades to purchase over the winter which will bring that total close to 14k.
My build is on the extreme end but I started out just buying a Turbotoyotas kit w/injector and AEM FIC w/PnP harness for $1,200 and put it on myself then got a great tune for $200 so its not terribly expensive to go forced induction to start off.....its just depending on how hard the boost bug bites/and your experience with boost as to how far you'll go afterwards.
Do I think the money was worth it....Hell yea! One of the awesome things about scionlife is that you can pick up quality parts for a fraction of the retail price...(e.g. bought a built short block with K1 rods, Wiseco pistons, and a complete OEM head for $1,100 and when I took it to the machine shop to get the balance shaft deleted and new piston rings it spec'd out perfect....to buy those parts new your looking at $4,000).
My advice to anybody looking to boost is do a METRIC TON of research first.....then make a concrete decision on what your budget is and compare it to what your horsepower goal is (sometimes peoples budgets don't match to what there desired hp level are). Best to spend the money once and be happy than to always be dumping money into the car.

I'd also say make sure you have plenty of bank for when trouble arises. My rule of thumb is to have at least 1.5x the estimated cost of your build saved up (dedicated to the build, not your total bank account). Wish I woulda followed my own advice when I went FI. It would also help if you have another car to use as a daily. For my build, I have definitely gone over my anticipated budget. Would spend more time saving and researching if I could do it again.

Well $900 for Trd s/c $100 for the tune. Rebuilt shaft side bearings $30 plus a serpentine belt $30 so $1060 so far
Came with 9.5 pulley and 12 psi pulley
I prefer the s/c for its simple bolt on and go passes inspection. I'm satisfied but are we ever really satisfied we always want more lol I plan to install the 12 psi pulley and tune it. I have full bolt ons as well. I think the biggest thing is Maintenance and doing things right and taking care of your ride goes along way towards avoiding issues not sure about turbo guys but I'm sure they will chime in. Good luck !!!

Im def over the $10k mark. The only labor Ive ever paid for was the machine shop, everything else Ive done myself. However that includes all the ____ Ive had to replace because I broke it. I probably have went through more bottom ends than anyone on here lol

Good information guys. Thanks a bunch for the tips. I myself spent about $3,800 for the kit. I did everything myself except for the tune and weld in oil pan bung. I was still paying the car off and it was kind of a tight budget but very well worth it. It was a blast every second I was in boost! Got laid off sometime later and was in need for the money, so I sold everything off the car :?. I just wanted to know what you guys spent and what you thought about it. I'm actually thinking about doing it all again . I expect to pay around the same, especially since I mostly want everything new and I'll probably go to some big name tuning shop because I think it's awesome.
Do you think you'd do anything different if you could do it all again?

Im sitting close to 30k with the initial and rebuild. Do I think its worth it, yes. If I could do it different there are thi gs I would change and it would have kept cost around 20k.
