Default More torque from TRD supercharger

Is there a way to increase torque from the supercharger other than not reflashing the ECU?

smaller pulley = higher boost.
intercooler maybe? I know that ZPI is working on that.

Unfortunately with centrifugal superchargers you sacrifice tq to make more power. This is due to boost threshold not occuring until redline. A smaller pulley would net you some extra power as you will hit more boost earlier in the power band but it intercoolers and smaller pullies wont get you turbo or roots blower style torque numbers.

People would just be adding stress to the motor redlining it in every gear just to eeck out the most boost lol.

Get an emanage and up your rev limiter to 8600rpms, all the S/C dyno's I see just look like they continue to pull. Maybe those extra RPMS will give you a few more HP and FT LBS.

OutCrnrU 's dyno sheet for reference.


A nice water to air intercooler with a custom ice box setup should give you a nice gain.
And Smaller S/C pulley and Larger Crank pulley. That should put you where you want to be.

They continue to pull because you are increasing boost by overrevving the motor. The boost continues to build and as a result you get a little more tq and hp. Even with the watercooler dyno you posted look at the tq numbers. While 180s is not bad its not 260 ft/lb that a turbo will net. The upside to the centrifugal blower is that the power curve is as linear as it can get.

Depends how hardcore the S/C guys wanna get. A lot is possible.

We know a turbo is better. I just like the warrenty part...but it will go away once you add pullies and whatnot. So we cant win. lol

Tell me about it. At least you guys get a warranty ok'd kit to boost the car... If we boost the car at all we lose our warranty...but yeah I hear you. A lot is possible with a blower. I'm just a turbo-nut...LOL

i talked to my tuner and dyno guy and says there is a lot of room to work with in the ecu. because of the refshlash the car runs pretty lean, tune the ecu to run optimum air/fuel ratio and you should see some good torque gains.

i just intalled the pulley tonight and i am impressed. once you hit 5 grand the car really pulls you into your seat, definately more high end torque and hp.

Lean? All of the charts I've seen (mine including) the AFR dips into 11s closer to redline - and that's the opposite of lean from my understanding.

With a rev limiter so low, I think it'll be ok. It's hard not to bounce the rev limiter.. I'm used to my Miata, fuel cut at 7300ish, valves float around 8.. :o

To a certain extent, lean would give you more power.. until you start detonating or melt the pistons..

I have to agree with zoltiz.. It's pretty rich at WOT. You loose some power from it, but it's a good safe tune.

How can I have the torque match the hp with the supercharger, similar to the 160hp 163tq from stock tc. I am aiming for 250whp and similar tq numbers

Thing is, you'll never be able to match it.

Why?

Max torque happens at max boost. Max boost is at redline. Due to the HP formula, at 6000 rpms, HP will be 14% higher than torque, and that percentage only increases if you bring it to 6500.

If we had a roots-style charger, it'd be a different story. More TQ than HP. It's also possible to get more TQ than HP by using a smaller, low-spooling turbo.
