Default My ZPI Stage 1 Install 7/27 * PIX*

So i began the long awaited install of my brand new ZPI stage 1 turbo.
yes this kit is great and i stand behind ZPI and all of their products....but this was a pain in the a$$. i dont know what kit they threw together for me but there was 1 issue after another. but thats to be expected with any kind of work on a engine i guess.

does the piping on anyone else's stage 1 seem like they routed the pipes in a really thoughtless way? Needless to say me and my mechanic had to do some custom pipe work to fix/edit ZPI's kinda iffy routing and really long intake pipe needing to be cut shorter. but it the piping is done and customized the way it should have been.

much of the customizing of the piping and miscellaneous odds and end that needed to be corrected are finished and the kit is being finished up.
just waiting on a package from ZPI that i ordered a week ago and still have not recieved containing ait filter and Vacuum block.

install has kinda given me a head-ache all in all but im waiting til i see the end results until i bash my head against a wall or not.

i will update tomorrow when i get Many more pics taken showing the piping how it is now..and how ZPI would have it run.

Sort of glad i am selling my kit and don't have to bash my head on the wall

I have a VAC block if you need one, or if it doesn't show up in a timely matter

Congrats! Sorry you might have to bash your head, I've done it many times since I started modding my car. You'll get used to it.

You should bring that bad boy over to our show we are having on August 25th. Check my sig for a link with the details.

piping that makes a U turn and runs down to the passenger side IC outlet was pysically touching the Downpipe where the coupler joins the 2 pipes.
er tryed rotating and twisting and many different angels but it always popped back to touching the down pipe.

we made a cut and added some small piping to fix the touching issues and i like how it looks and run better now.

not only that but a few other little tinkers here and there.

I PMed him. I had mine welded, then heat wraped. Last i talked to kenny, he said he planed to do that to future kits. guess not.

if you want you could replace the factory fan shroud with slimline fans, clock the turbo down, and try to make it work.

Not true. Before my tC, I never installed a turbo kit and I did mine in 5 hours by myself. Not one issue.

I went over to one of my crew members house who just had the Dezod Kit installed. He was having a hard time trying to make the front bumper fit without having to cut it. We ended up cutting the intercooler piping instead.

That was the basis for my comment. So, what's with the hostility? I've done quite a bit of my own work on my own cars so, I'm not sure what you are trying to say with that comment.

So, then are you saying that the re-routed WG piping on the Tnetics kit is not know to break? As it was my understanding that it was common that the pipe breaks when you start racing the car. Maybe I should have been a little more specific, and not just talk about installing a kit. I'm talking more along the lines of having a turbo kit on the car period. There is not a single kit that has been completely hassle free. Whether its from installing it, to racing it, to daily driving it.

When you said bolt on I figured that you meant installing a kit cnat be done without problems. Not if it will break on you. Even cars that come with turbos have small issues here and there.

And I'd like to point out that this problem your talking about has never happened to me with over a year of use.

Yeah, that's the message I was trying to convey. Be it in an install, or be it in just from worn out use.

As for the problem with the piping, I'm not sure how often you race your car. But it looked to be that the problem only occurred when people were hammering on the car pretty frequently at the track.
