Default NOOB Boost Gauge Question

Ok so I finally got my boost gauge in for my S/C. I have it wired in to a 12v source running to the stereo that only powers on when the ignition is engaged. Now there are 3 wires; 1 for 12v lighting, 1 for ground, and 1 for 12v ignition switch. I have both 12v wires plugged into the same source. The boost tube is a 1/8" clear PVC tube running from the gauge to the vacuum line running from the throttle body, I have it connected via a T fitting. I checked for kinks and any pressure points on the tube and it's clear. I checked my power and it's clean, both 12v and ground.

My problem is that unless I am pushing more then half way down on the throttle when accelerating it doesn't register boost, just idles at 0. Under cruise control at say 65mph i have 15vac. I thought that throughout the RPM range on the supercharger that even if you aren't under acceleration you are still making boost? I know it's working ok when reading max boost because it peaks at about 6psi under hard/max acceleration; i'm on the stock pulley. Also when I am sitting still and waiting for the car to cool down the needle jumps between 0vac and 20vac pretty fast and makes a nice clicking noise.

Is this normal? Where have I gone wrong? Different gauge?

I have this gauge:

Should I just get this gauge so I have a # readout instead of a needle?

You wil not make boost unless the throttle is open enough and you are high enough in the rpm band making enough airflow, otherwise the bypass valve recirculates the "boost."

Everything is normal, that's exactly how mine works.

Even the ticking between 0 and 20 when idle for a period of time?
I haven't got a turbo timer yet so I do sit in the car for a good 30-60 seconds... that how I noticed.

I'm running this same boost gauge and ditch the clear tube asap
mine just collapsed under pressure and stayed that way.
