How do you figure turbo seems like a big headache? If you think turbo is bad, i hope you never have any problems with your s/c if you get it. Its "ok" with bolt ons and a 9.5 psi pulley. Turbo is night and day.

^ well when i had my car in 06 the turbos were more-so evolving to what they are now. I had my s/c put on by the dealer - now if you can find a whole kit and someone selling a used blower ....your set. There are upgraded shafts and bearing rebuild kits out .... so yea. There were a few people that ran their s/c's 20-30-40k miles without issue but most people ran into a bearing issue or the shaft F'n up to some extent. Keep in mind that the s/c is no longer sold so you need to think about your plan of action now. There are 4+ turbo guys selling similar setups. Dezod and Ptuning is where you want to look (all depends how far you want to go ....and its proven what works and doesnt). If you are looking to make the 300hp range the t3 turbo is nice. Spools fast and performs well. If you know you want more hp then that .... you can buy a kit with a larger turbo. The s/c is locked into the one blower ....and you have to keep increasing boost (and decreasing how efficient things are running). Once you get to a 12lb s/c pulley ...its small. With an increased price tag of a grand .... trd could have make the s/c setup rock solid and sold well. They had to market things and jack the price up cause it was a dealer isntalled part. Too bad.

Long story short - i had a blast with my s/c and i told you the needed info. I sold my s/c parts and people gladly took them to sit on and/or rebuild. Its a good time and a good way to learn.

I love my s/c. There is a large noticeable difference between stock and supercharged. Plus I still get 26mpg.

I was looking at getting a SC kit with only a couple k on it or 1300. Im looking for some extra hp without having to fork 3k+ for a turbo(i dont want to do a turbo setup if i dont have the cash). im trying to find some youtube videos now.

I love mine, I'm @ 35k on my kit and everyone riding/driving it can tell the difference. but I won't say that it is the best option. I personally chose it in part because of the ability to have it covered under the powertrain warrenty, I haven't had an issue with that but others have not been so lucky. IMO if the option for warranty isn't there then you might as well go turbo, the possible maint/repairs would go so much easier

no warranty here, Thinking im going to go with the SC because im on Cali plates, I know with a turbo ill get in trouble, and I would be stupid enough to try to boost on a budget. found a SC kit with ~8k miles on it for 1300, good deal or no?

i would send it out for the new bearings nomatter what. The upgraded ones are night and day better then stock. Since its not even on the car, you can have things done right from the start

ahhhh I would say $1300 is good if all the parts are there..cause i would say to you also, get the bearings done. I would talk the guy down $100 cause you will need a few odd/ends to make the kit complete (prob ...i dunno but i would think you would). Also, you might want to get a 9.5lb pulley and belt

comes with complete kit and the 9.5 pulley is included, he said he'd replace the bearings since he has a press. he said bearings only cost $80, but i saw rebuild kits for like 200-300$

i wanted to boost with a warranty thats why i got my s/c and had it dealer installed. ive had it 3 years now and loved it before it broke. https://www.scionlife.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=178476 it took a few weeks and a lot of learning of how to take apart then replace parts then put it back together. since then it has nullified the reason i wanted it in the first place, reliable power that was backed by toyota (FAIL). i will keep it on there but knowing the bearings will fail again and i will have to take it apart makes me wish i said F-it and got a turbo for the same price but more power.

the stock t-stat is 180. if i were you i would get it changed to the 160 pretty quick, the S/C doesn't like heat.
