Oil pressure sender question

Oil pressure sender question
Has anyone had had to replace their oil pressure sender? I have a prosport oil gauge and replaced the sender once, and think the replacement has gone bad.

im on my second also. im changing to aem. where do you guys have the sender connected to? i got mines by the sensor. maybe its the vibration from the engine, and it looks like the back part of my sender where the wire connect is melted, due to the heat maybe?

How did you know the sender was going? I've been getting very high psi when cold (100psi at 3k rpm) and low psi when warm (down to a few psi at idle when hot). I wanted to post up and see if anyone had anything similar, before I get too worried that it might be something bigger.
I've also got mine teed off the block, and was also wondering if heat from the engine bay could effect it. Maybe a sandwich adaptor would be better?
Also, anyone know if I can use a different pressure sender, or do I have to use prosport's? Wondering if maybe I can upgrade the pressure sender without changes the guages (cause If I change the oil pressure gauge I'll have to change the boost guage to match, I'm ocd like that).
BTW, the first time I ordered a replacement from Prosport, the guy told me he had never heard of a a pressure sender going bad!

Mine read reallly low which worried me at first. But the gauge would spike up and down really quickly, so I took a chance on it being the sender. Replaced it and was back to normal. Lol the guy from prosport told me the exact same thing.

hahahah, it's like scion dealership saying they never heard of a hatch rattling before or a supercharger going bad!
I'll give them a call today. I would like to try a sender unit from another company, but am unsure if another sender would work if their gauge or if they would be honest with me and tell me if it would.
Is your's t-d off the block? Has anyone have had one that has gone bad that was set up through a sandwich adaptor?

lol they just dont want to admit that their sender unit goes bad. Mines off a sandwich adaptor. Yea i definitely would try a different sender unit from another company, so you dont have future problems again.

I think my sending unit is going out too, my psi drops after like an hour of driving and stays between 1-10 psi, but the oil level is fine, and not burning oil. I have a megan racing gauge, after raeding this thread I contacted them to see about getting a replacement too lol.

Re: Oil pressure sender question
So I guess the question is, who has had a sender unit for over a year without it going bad and what gauge you have. AEM is probably a solid bet.
It almost seems like it would be less hassle just to have a mechanical one.

I have a mechanical Autometer, tapped into a sandwich. Works great.

I'm going to move mine to a sandwich adaptor my next oil change I think. I have a slight exhaust leak under the hood, it may be the reason I am churning through these sender units.
When I talked to prosport, they said that the used a better unit in the prosport gauge than they do in many other units they produce for other companies.

They are usually a small device that screws into the block of the engine somewhere near the oil filter. There is usually one or two wires. Disconnect the wires, unscrew the old switch, screw in the new switch, attach the wires and you're done.
