Oil starvation - Oil injector / line / jet / squirter?
Hi everyone,
I've been using the search button and picking up bits and pieces from everyone else's posts....
I have an 05 block which I drive really gently.
What exactly are oil injectors - the ones that ARE in the 07-08 tc engine block but are NOT on the 05-06? Equinox says that they're just holes in the engine block that allow oil to flow to the bearings. They aren't like separate injectors right?
Can an engine or machine shop drill them into an 05-06 block or is it something that HAS to be cast on the engine block when it's made?
What else is causing blown engines on the tc? I don't mean the boosted, hard-driven engines, I'm just asking about the daily drivers. The ones I've heard about are all "oil starvation" causing spun bearings and snapped rods.

If you know the basics to taking care of a car, you shouldn't need to drill anything into your block lol. Keep oil in your engine basically and you'll be set. Especially if you drive it "gently" you shouldnt be worrying about anything if you're not boosting.

I havnt torn my block appart or done any engine work yet on the 2azfe but my old nissan ka24de has oil injectors that look like tiny little arms that are bolted next to the bore on the bottom side of the block. there are oil passages that they are bolted ontop off. they spray oil directly onto the bottom of the piston and cylinder walls. I assume that its the same principle for the 2azfe, like i said i haven't had the pleasure of tearing my engine down.

Etli, I have found some info on a PDF file.
http://tijil.org/Scion_Docs/Scion_06...er/2azfe15.pdf
Goto page 5 and it has a diagram of the oil jets. It is different than I thought, its not just a passage way, but an actual part.
Also goto page 8 for the bearing change design, that is why for any build, I would recommend new bearings http://www.dezod.com/cat_bearings.cfm

Boy lots of little changes between 06 and 07 engines.
So the oil injectors are at the top of the block injecting onto the pistons? Or are they at the bottom ( below the piston) injecting down onto the bearings / rods or up at the bottom of the piston?
