Default Older Cylinder Heads on 07 Bottom End

I have a 2007 bottom end and am looking to pickup another cylinder head to put on for now. I am wondering if my search should be just for a 2007+ Scion tC head or if I can include other models such as 1AZ or first gen 2AZs as well.

Has anyone here directly swapped an older cylinder head on a 2007 block?
Want to know if its a direct swap or if anything is different.

Thanks for your time.

I went by an eBay description when I purchased mine they list one head for 05-09, I hope it's like this.

the 05-10 tc are the same as far as engine platform. the only thing thats changed is the sensors and some of the wiring. as for as the 1zz platforms go, i dont belive they will work. if ur gonna use a head from a diff model yota, ya might wanna look at the 4cyl camry, and i believe the rav4, and maybe the corolla/matrix xrs. basically anything with a 2az-fe platform in it.

Incorrect. The 05-06 Scion tC engines differ from the 07-09's. Slightly different head studs, oil passages, and coolant passages. There may be additional differences but this is what I can confirm first hand. FYI the Camry and Scion differ as well internally (it makes no sense to me, with the same engine code they differ) this was confirmed back in the day by ZPI Racing.

I know bottom ends are different as far as the head studs, pistons, oil squirters. But the head I believe are the same for 05-09 or I just hope they are because I just spend some serious money to get my head done. And as for head studs go I believe 07 and up short block itself has a different length and thread pitch which has I believe has nothing to do with any year cylinder heads.

The cylinder head on the 05-06 and '07-'10 are interchangeable. So you can use either one on either block. The difference mainly is in the camshaft and head bolt length on the block.

PearlWhite I was asking about the 1AZ engine not the 1ZZ. The 1AZ is an early RAV4 that is a 1AZFE. The cylinder head looks identical but the bottom end is a 2.0.
A lot of websites say it can be used on a 2AZFE but I am wondering if anyone has done it.

^^^oh yea u did say the 1az lol..i misquoted ya..sry bout that bud.
Anyway, idk of neone personally that has used the rav head, but it may run into some bumps in the build, sry i cant be much more help than that. But im sure someone has done it somewhere. By the way well be in touch about tuning the aem fic. I think i got it down but it still needs to be tweaked for max power. U have a dyno at ur place?

^^^yeah but now most of em are just lil punks that have no respect. They think just cuz mommy and daddy purchased em an m3 or something along those lines that theyre hot $4it..they dont appreciate the time, effort and knowledge that goes into things and they damn well dont appreciate the value of a doller cuz they know that all they have to do is ask for it and theyll get it (todays generation is very spoiled) especially alot of the kids in our area.

Yes, you must use the scion timing chain cover.
