Alright guys, my tranny is apart, and I'm about tot make my internals to get treated, BUT I want to make sure I have all the necessary parts so I can just go once and be done. I know that I'll need the LSD Installation kit, but what are the part numbers for the shims and speedometer drive gear that are not included? Also, has anyone needed to replace a differential gear after opening the transmission? Lastly, should the speedometer drive gear be treated as well?

I keep hearing horror stories about EPIC tranny failures because someone didn't replace a tiny inexpensive part...

Those part numbers are in the Toyota service manual. I would try to get a hold of the manual because the procedures for shimming are in there as well. I know this because I have done some lsd installs that when picking the proper shim for the diff, you need to install the diff with new pressed bearings in place... then bolt the 2 case halves together (without gear shafts) and the diff resistance should be between 9-14in lbs (with new bearings) from what I remember.

And there is no need to replace the ring gear for the diff unless you see a chip.
