yeah, i've watched nearly all the zpi videos
just a few points
1. zpi stage one= about 300 whp, tnet=244 whp
2. zpi driver looked to have way more skill than the tnet driver since he pulled off that burnout.

for safety, i want the turbonetics kit, but for power and bragging rights, i want the zpi. i also really like how dedicated they are to the scion community. and like zpiracing said, if i do an all zpi setup, i might get a nice discount.

so this is what i plan to get and from where

first from zpi:
1. clutch master stage 1 clutch: $350.00
2. greddy presor sensor with harness: $134.75
3. aem wideband o2 sensor: $289.00
4. 4 ngk iridium spark plugs at 12.72 each: $50.88
5. nology hotwires: $198.99
6. zpi stage 1 kit with jumper harness: $4,799.00
s&h: $65.94
total:$5788.56

next up, www.optionauto.com:
1. ati center triple pod: $108.00
2. aem oil pressure gauge: $198.00
3. aem boost gauge: $198.00
s&h: free ground shipping!
total: $504.00

and since oem foglights won't fit infront of an intercooler i have no choice but to the vertex racing foglights...
vrd foglights: $249.00
s&h: $16.56
total: $265.56

grand total: $6558.12!

there are only a few more costs i need to figure out which are the cost of a new front bumper, take out oem foglights and install vrd ones. install gauge pod and gauges (should i do this before or after i install the turbo? and the installation cost of the turbo kit and preferals.

i would appreciate input on this. i'm looking for parts that i missed that i'll also need to order, or you think a stage 1 clutch isn't strong enough, estimates on labor, maybe a good garage that can install these parts near the 20882 zip code. and if you know a place i can get these parts that will save me some green, don't hesitate to tell me!

irst from zpi:
1. clutch master stage 1 clutch: $350.00
2. greddy presor sensor with harness: $134.75
3. aem wideband o2 sensor: $289.00

5. nology hotwires: $198.99
6. zpi stage 1 kit with jumper harness: $4,799.00
1. Stage 3 from CM would be best
2. Nice choice
3. Again, nice choice
4. remember 1 heat range coder plug for ~8-12psi
5. Do yourself a favor and ditch the nology idea right now....why move the coil off the plug? The domestics just wish they had an ignition setup like ours.
6. To each their own....

Get a turbo timer, 3 bottles of redline MT-90 for the tranny, and a decent set of brake pads for less than the price of the nology wires

Don't forget about the install costs on a lot of this stuff can get pretty steep if you're not the mechanic,

You might not need a new front bumper - you'll probably just have to cut into the one you have to fit the IC.

Install and tune will be another $1500-2000 i bet.

I got 4 Denso IK24's for $50 shipped (Garage1217). Probably don't need new spark plug wires. Don't think you absolutely need the greddy pressure sensor either.

There's a 3-gauge pillar pod I bought for $46'ish shipped... cheaper than the ATI Epod... I'll get it to fit my a-pillar, even though I have the side curtains.

I'm with t_C here.

Rhythmnsmoke will be able to help you out with that CM stage 1 clutch. He near completely fried his with a little bit of boost; definitely go for the stage 3. I can't find those pictures but he definitely had pictures of the charred remains of the stage 1.

Also the Nology Hotwires are, as said, a regression in technology. Save yourself some money as these are not needed. One would be hardpressed to improve on Toyota's coil-on-plug design; one would be even more hardpressed to make a coil-off-plug design equal to a coil-on design.

If you can get a package deal, go for ZPI. It's proven power and performance over the Turbonetics. The only advantage that T-N has over ZPI is the cast iron manifold (speaking of which, ZPI has been planning on one right? Is it out yet?) in terms of kit. T-N also has a magnificent warranty on its parts and the 2AZ-FE sitting in your car is not one of Turbonetics' parts. So if you blow your engine, you may as well blow it with a package deal and a fireworks display worth a 12 second run.

t_c
1. do i really need a stage 3? this is my daily driver, and i don't want to turn my left pedal into a leg press.
2. i have no idea what you meant about the spark plugs on number 4
3. do i really need a turbo timer? i want to minimize the amount of input i have on my car when this is all done, i would have no idea how to operate a turbo timer. i want to buy, have installed, and enjoy.
4. mt 90 gear lube? i love the way my tranny feels
5. i plan on getting full trd suspension drop, sway bar and tower brace, and a stoptech stage 2 brake upgrade kit, but those aren't really turbo related, they were part of my original plan for an n/a build up.

krdshrk:
i ran over a stupid box that popped out my oem foglight grille and tore off all the tabs that hold in the grill. i took it to a body shop friend of mine and i guess he glued it back in or something. so since i'm going to take out the foglights (i'm glad i held onto my stock grill!) to make room for the intercooler, get a new front bumper, and have vrd foglights installed cause i love yellow foglights to pay homage to my hero takumi fujiwara!
also, i just like the ati center gauge pod alot better than the a-pillar pod, so that is not going to change.
as for install, zpi offered me a discount if i drive to them buy all those parts i listed from them and have them install it, but it is a 10 hour drive, over 600 miles, i'd have to spend a night or two in kentucky at like 85 bucks a night, and would be more than likely to get many many speeding tickets...so i am weighting whether or not the discount is worth it.

1. Still looking for those pics... but they were NOT pretty.
2. Spark plugs have a heat range; just go one heat range lower. If you don't know, ask whoever you're buying them from. People also say one "step" colder.
3. If you switch to a full synthetic oil you won't need a turbo timer. Synthetic oil simply doesn't break down. It gets dirty though; that's the only reason you'd ever need to change synthetic. Turbo timers prevent oil from breaking down when it just sits on the hot turbo bearings. If your oil doesn't break down, you effectively don't need a turbo timer!
4. He's just saying you could get MT90 and the rest of thestuff he listed if you don't get the Hotwires.

thank you kungpaosamuraii. i already use mobil1 synthetic on my tc, so yay, i don't need a turbotimer, but i guess i gotta change oil more often i suppose, like 3000 instead of 5000 miles.
after looking at garage 1217, the additional s&h would negate any savings on spark plugs, but i really like this
http://www.garage1217.com/garage1217_004.htm
for holding the gauges because
1. i would have to hack up my dash to get that gauge pod in there.
2. already have a really awesome pioneer deck from my old explorer just sitting in my closet.
3. and the aem gauges are also 52 mm! it is perfect!
i might get that cubby cover for a forth guage, but i then where will i keep my sunglasses case? and then again, a forth gauge would offset the savings, so maybe i'll stick with my original choice of 3 gauges!

thanks to krdshrk for garage1217, that saves me a nice amount of money...i even like the guages, i might go with autometer if the savings is pretty good!

keep the ideas coming guys, this is great!

autometer ultra-lite II air/fuel ratio, boost and pyrometer: $436.50 shipped versus 685 for all aem gauges, which saves me $248.50!

cf dash panal from garage1217 pre-cut: $69.99+$6s&h= 75.99 instead of ati gauge pod at $108 saves me $32.01! plus it would be alot cheaper to get installed and doesn't requre hacking my dash up so much!

total savings $280.51!

new grand total: $6227.61

anybody got some other ideas?

foglights arrived yesterday, clutch arrived today!

so i was thinking, does the turbonetics kit require cutting up the front reinforcement? i kinda don't want to jeopardize my health in an accident. i'm back on the fence between turbonetics and zpi...it isn't about whp, it is about drivability and reliability and the enjoyability! and while the turbonetics kit seems more expensive, once i add on a the $300 jumper harness, $134 for the pressure sensor they get to be around the same...

also i'm curious and flattered that cessblood is watching, his tc sounds far better then what i have planned. oh well, if i didn't want an audience i wouldn't have posted this info.
