Default Problems buying a used turbo

I was just wondering what kind of problems people have (or could) encountered when purchasing a used turbo kit.

your main problem would be a worn/bad bearing..improper care (such as improper cool down period) could cause stress/structural damage. splines on the turbines can be broken if anything foreign entered the turbo housing. intercooler leaks maybe? those would be the main things to look out for

a well maintained turbo should last a long time.. but other than the turbo, no cracks on manifold, no holes on any pipes or IC, working wg and bov and you should be good.. the turbo make sure no blown seals or shaft play

what about the FIC? If its programed incorrectly and i install it thinking it has the factory programming, what kind of issues could arise?

a used fic would be ok to buy, it doesnt come with a "factory program" if you mean it comes with a fuel map,02map,maf map, ignition map. never hook up a used or even new fic before doing all the setup stuff first. peep fic set up sticky.
