Problems buying a used turbo

your main problem would be a worn/bad bearing..improper care (such as improper cool down period) could cause stress/structural damage. splines on the turbines can be broken if anything foreign entered the turbo housing. intercooler leaks maybe? those would be the main things to look out for

a well maintained turbo should last a long time.. but other than the turbo, no cracks on manifold, no holes on any pipes or IC, working wg and bov and you should be good.. the turbo make sure no blown seals or shaft play
