Default PSI and MAF - Clamp? What is it?

So I am not too good with tuning. Actually, not good at all. I have read about "clamping" the MAF after a certain PSI or something like that. Can someone give me a better understanding of how that works or what it does. Also, the main question is how much PSI can the MAF handle if you want to just use the MAF to tune the vehicle? Thanks

I'm pretty sure you're clamping the MAF voltage so it doesn't read over stock/over it's limit...

i personally wont tune with maf voltage......get a greddy pressure sensor if your running emanage to tune.....well worth 100 bucks

So lets say I wasnt using a emanage or fic or anything like that. Lets use the apexi for example.....Could you run 10, 11, 12 psi with the MAF or would the MAF throw codes and not work????? With understanding that the apexi would not pull timing obv.

You clamp the MAF signal slightly above the max stock signal so that the ECU doesn't throw a CEL. When you clamp the MAF, you need another means to measure airflow above the MAF clamp. On the FIC the MAP sensor takes over.

How much airflow the stock MAFS can read depends on the diameter of the MAF tube. A larger tube will allow the MAFS to read more airflow but you'll need at least an FIC or Greddy Ultimate to tune for such a change. The FIC has a MAF map that allows you to adjust the MAF signal +/- and clamp it.

Thanks for the info guys - So "clamping" it means that it still utlizes the MAF until it reaches its max and then the MAP will take over from there?

The clamp limits the amount of voltage the sensor sees.
