Default PTP Turbo Blanket - Installed 2/3/09 w/pics

As a temporary fix until I get my pieces (manifold/exhaust housing on turbo) for coating I was thinking about getting a Turbo Blanket. They are a bit pricey, but a functional and can provide an additional clean look to the turbo.

The PTP Blanket in black is what I am eye balling currently.

Description:
Turbos get very hot as we all know. Sometimes they get so hot they can melt electronics and effect the paint on the hood! This is the best, easiest, and cheapest way to keep your turbo from causing any damage to the rest of your car. Turbo heat blanket isolates your turbocharger from the engine compartment, keeping the superheated air where it belongs. Insulating the turbo keeps exhaust gases moving quickly, improving turbo response and retaining boost pressure. The heat blanket works so well in keeping under hood temperature down that you can rest your hand on the blanket without being burned.

This Turbo Blanket is made from high quality fiberglass composite. The blankets are rated to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit.

Coupon Code: jdmu
That code still works. I know because I just used it. Brought the price down to $105.00, then I got 2nd day air, with tax it came out to $128 shipped.

does your turbo have to be out of the engine to put it on or can you install the blanket with the turbo in the car?

So I got it in. It doesn't like to bend, so I took off the DP. Here is the pictorial results of that.

And there ya go. I'll take it out during the day tomorrow to see what kind of temps I see in the rad. fluid.

Probably would Ace, but I think getting them coated would look even sexier.

It is a little pricey but damn does it look nice. I'd easily be willing to drop the money for this when I get my kit.

to the op just wondering why you took the down pipe off to put on the blanket. i just got the same one and it feels like could get on the turbo without removing the downpipe.

That was the only reason I took it off.
