Default PTUNING: ACL Race Series Main & Rod Bearings (In Stock)

We'll it's been over 6 months since we spoked with ACL about manufacturing a race series bearings for the Scion tC's 2AZ-FE motor. We'll the wait is over, we have finally received the first shipment of ACL Race Series bearing from Australia. We are the only dealer in the US that currently stock these bearings for the Scion tC. Supply is limited and we do not know when the next shipment will arrive in the states.

These bearings were design for engines running higher rpms and generating power that are beyond the capacity of the oem bearings. Here's some information from our website:

ACL Race Series Performance Engine Bearings

The unique combination of design, metallurgy and engineering come together to deliver what drivers expect from high performance Tri-metal engine bearings. Designed to withstand higher RPM conditions

Features:
-High strength overlay plate with reduced thickness for improved fatigue properties.
-Hardened steel backs on all rod bearings to improve the support of the bearing lining and assist with bearing retention in the housing.
-Increased crush for improved bearing retention
-Elimination of flash plating on the back of the bearings to improve heat transfer through the bearing sand to maximize the grip between the bearings and its housing.
-Increased eccentricity to compensate for bore distortion at high rpm and to assist in the formation of hydrodynamic oil films.
-3/4 grooved Main Bearings to optimize bearing load carrying surface area and oil flow to the conrod bearings.
-Tight consistent wall tolerances to help you maintain consistent clearances.
-Enlarged ID chamfers on bearing edges where required to accommodate large fillet radius on performance crankshafts.

NOTE: Use undersize bearings for undersize crank. Undersize refers to the crank and not the bearing thickness. Many people confuse undersize bearings as being thinner bearing, when the word undersize refers to the crank being undersize, so the bearing is actually thicker.

So those that are going to use the stock crack need standard size bearings?

If your stock crank's journal is within the factory spec, i.e. the crank has very little or no wear and the journal measurements are within the factory spec, you will want to get the standard size bearing. Your machine shop can polish the crank journal to achieve the desire oil clearances. If you have excessive wear on the journals, you or your machinist can determine which undersize bearing to use and again the crank journal should be polished down to the correct size to achieve the desired oil clearances.

Bearing clearances is one of the most important aspect of engine building and is usually overlooked by many DIYer. Just because your crank journals (main & rod) looks "good" it doesn't mean that installing a set of new bearing is all that is needed. This may be fine for a rebuilt stock motor that you're planning to put together just to sell the car, but it's not going to cut it when you're trying to build a hi perf. motor that's putting out 2-3 times the factory hp.
