We've only had a problem with a slightly chipped ring gear once. This was, however, caused by broken tooth schrapnel left over from the munched fourth gear.

Did you by any chance forget to put back the reverse idler gear shaft lockdown bolt on the outside of the tranny. What about the tiny reverse shift fork roller. Those are the only things that I can come up with off the top of my head.

In terms of the plug heat range, we use two steps colder with the WMI. Assuming that your plugs don't foul out during idling like when your stuck in traffic, then the 3 step colder plugs should work fine too. (Probably not an issue in Florida, but would certainly be a problem in the colder states during the winter).

Will this ems retain the key immobilizer? I hear this is a big problem with k-pro back in the RSX-S world. K-pro didn't have the ability to retain the key/ignition immobilizer, thus making the car easily steal-able.

can you give more details about the intake manifold. I have a year and a half and a lot of money to spend. Ptuning will be my one stop shop from now on.

im new to this sorry for the noob questions
A standalone ecu is not for the masses--it's purpose is to give the tuner full control over all aspects of engine management, minus DBW and other auxliary functions that it doesn't care to control. Aftermarket standalone ecu that's ODBII-compliant doesn't exist for any vehicle. If you need to maintain OBDII for annual emissions scanning purposes in your area, stick with a piggy-back ecu (FIC, Emanage, etc.).

I live in Colorado and I am frustrated with the stock ECU making changes in open loop and my FIC tune needing constant modifications, but I do need to pass smog every two years. It sounds like this is awesome and will address those issues. What would they do during a smog inspection that would cause it to fail with this unit?
thanks

Scan OBD-II.

Any updates on the unit?

damn, i cannot believe i never saw this post!

Even only driving the car with the ECU installed for a short amount of time, here are my views on the ECU. Besides the fact it ROCKS and will knock your socks off, let me dive a little deeper. 1) The old greddy system had a HUGE problem with a false redline, because of poor resolution. I have no idea why but if I got wheel spin while the motor was reving beyond the stock Redline the ecu would stutter, and "hit redline." Let me tell you NOTHING is more annoying that wondering if the next curb you hit will make the car stutter, it just sucks! Toan spent HOURS on this and he could not fix it, the greddy simply did not have the resolution or the ability to do that. Now for 2) boost by gear. Now anyone, and I mean anyone that says they car get "on it" in a low gear with a high hp fwd car is pulling your chain. It simply is an exercise in throttle control to not light up hot R888's with 300+ hp. Granted our car is super light, its still no fun. Boost by gear gives you (and me) the opportunity to match the power you can put down in that gear with the boost required to run it. Now most people say more power is better!? Right? to a certain extent, but speed is simply the application of power. You want to apply as much as you can, but if you apply more you actually slow down. Clear as mud right? Also 3) Drive by wire!!! You don't even lose drive by wire! For a street car, i LOVE DBW systems!

So you think $1500 is pricey? For the piece of mind you get and the total control you can have, thats cheap! Toan can tune your beast to be a true Daily driveable 500+whp beast, not many people can say that, and not many shops can do that. With the development time this has taken, I assure you all when this is released it will be the BEST ECU on the market. PTuning is not about to throw something out there untested, or subpar. PTuning prides itself on perfection, from the cleanliness of the shop, to the P on the dip stick tube, to an ECU that will meet all your needs. We run it on our beast, why not run it on yours?

haha, well, its not been officially disclosed here I guess, but its clearly stated here. Sorry if that sounded too much like a sales pitch. Anyone will tell you that I'm honest about the products I use, and normally quite blunt about it. PTuning has continued to suprise me over the years with their engineering and comitment to perfection. It shows in the speed of the car, and the parts they produce. Why would this be any different?
