Default PTUNING: PnP Water/Methanol Injection Kit now available!

We’ve just finished designing our tC specific PnP Water/Methanol Injection Kit. The kit is based on the AEM WMI kit with progressive controller. As some of you may or may not know, the new AEM part number 30-3002 (kit without bottle) was originally created for us through our collaboration with AEM. We’ve had this kit now for some time now. AEM just recently decided to release this part number for regular sale.

What we’ve done is converted these base kits to a tC specific PnP kit. Our kit will utilize the factory washer bottle, which has a very well designed internal baffle. The standard AEM kit (standard fluid tank) has been used successfully on our RTA Championship winning tC race car, which has been racing exclusively on 93 octane pump gas and WMI. We created this kit to address the difficulties of installation of the standard kit.

Finding a suitable location for the standard AEM fluid tank and more importantly, the pump (with it’s awkward, rubber mounted, four tiny mounting holes) is no easy task. This doesn’t even take into account the headache of figuring out all the wiring, switches, and running the vacuum source and hard plastic line from the trunk to the front of the car. Installation of a non-PnP WMI kit can be AS labor intensive, if not more so, than that of a nitrous kit. With that said, here are the details of the WMI kit we are in the process of releasing.

Kit Contents:

AEM progressive controller. Unit uses PWM to control pump speed (pressure).
Custom bracket for mounting controller.
PnP wiring harness.
Custom bracket for mounting pump.
Pre-wired PnP pump.
Pre-wired PnP water level sensor to integrate with factory washer bottle.
Integrated PnP relay that can be used to turn off an electronic boost control solenoid.
One-way check valve with mounting bracket.
Three-position factory style switch for turning off WMI and/or EBCS.
Includes 3 nozzle jet sizes:
130cc - recommended for 150-250hp
315cc - recommended for 250-400hp
550cc - recommended for 400-650hp

Functional features:

Water level sensor:
The water level sensor will activate a trouble code on the controller, thereby blinking a low water level code using the supplied AEM status LED. In addition, our integrated relay will activate a failsafe mode by shutting off power to an EBCS to bring boost levels back down to spring pressure. (Optionally) The failsafe trigger can also be configured to trigger timing retard on various aftermarket ECUs.

Rocker switch:
Our factory-style, 3-position rocker switch (no modifications required to install) has a few unique features. The upper most position will activate the WMI and allow the EBCS to function normally (low water level failsafe will always be active).
The middle position will deactivate the WMI, but still allow the EBCS to function normally (In case you want to tune for high boost without the WMI). The lower rocker switch position is what we call a “VALET” mode. It will shut off both the WMI and the EBCS. It will not shut off your EBC main unit – so you will not lose your boost control display (i.e. peak hold, etc.). This is a nice feature, because if your friend or whomever tries to mess around with your boost controller settings, they will never be able to activate a high boost mode, since the EBCS will be inactive.

Water capacity with factory washer reservoir:
Our kit will allow you to store just a little over 1 gallon of useable fluid before the low level sensor kicks in. The unique baffling used on the factory washer bottle will allow the water pickup point to always have water present, regardless of the g-forces encountered during normal race conditions. You can still use your factory washer nozzles should you decide to run regular washer fluid.

Regular pricing: $495
Intro pricing (good until April 15th): $450 + Free shipping (lower 48 states)

I could figure out how to integrate this with my hydra for the back up spark and fuel map using the fail safe trigger it would be so much better!

Generally with a standalone ECU, you would configure one of the available inputs for nitrous-retard activation. The software should let you adjust the amount of timing retard and fuel compensation as well. Whether your ECU uses a 12V trigger or ground trigger our failsafe relay can activate it.

I probably will just bring my tC up there for tuning when I get the PTuning kit. At that time, I probably will get this installed as well.

Well after a lot of R&D and testing, we've finally finished up all the components to our PnP PTUNING/AEM WMI kit. The pump bracket is CNC cut from 6061 aluminum, while the WMI controller unit mount is CNC cut from 304 stainless steel with our logo laser-etched onto it. We've included a bracket for the one-way valve too.

The wiring is about 99% PnP. The water level sensor, pump and main harness feature high quality Weather-Pack style connectors for a simple plug-in install. The main harness also features an integrated fuse holder (we've even installed the appropriate fuse) and integrated fail-safe relay. The rocker switch has all the necessary wiring connections pre-attached and it too features an integrated a tap-a-fuse (with appropriate fuses installed as well).

As far as wiring goes, you will only need to make six crimp connections to all color coded wires, we've even stripped the wires for you (doesn't get anymore PnP than that). Basically, if you can color match six wire colors, you're good to go. We would've made the wiring 100% plug and play if not for the fact that you will not be able to pass the wires through the firewall with connectors in place.

In terms of installing the components, you will only need to drill five holes, four of which are through plastic:

1) water level sensor for factory reservoir
2) water pickup for factory reservoir
3) LED (assuming you want to mount it on the gauge bezel like we suggest)
4) engine compartment fuse cover (inconspicuous location)
5) 8mm hole for one of the pump mounting brackets

Our PnP kit is currently in use on a local customer's DD TRD SC'ed tC. Again, minus the PnP part, this is the same WMI kit we use on our 500+WHP pump gas TA tC. Btw, we suggest 50/50 water/methanol mix or simple washer fluid (the no frills blue kind that is good to -20 degrees. This stuff usually has about 30% methanol). Do not use the -40 degree stuff as it contains glycol.

Pricing for this PnP WMI kit:

Regular price: $495
Intro price (good until April 15th): $450 + free shipping (lower 48 states)

We will be updating our main post with more pics very shortly.

These are in-stock, however, we are finishing up the instruction sheet and expect to start shipping out orders by this Friday 20th.
