Just curious, are you guys planning on showing up to the NJ race regardless of having a running car or not? I don't see a reason for me to go down if you're not lol.

 

I'll try to give you all a day by day progress report of the car.

Right now i know the stock motor needs to be taken out and have some work done. Past that we can throw the car on the dyno, tune it, and race.

So NJ is probably going to happen.

 

Sweet. That's on the 29/30th right? I'm probably going to the Yankees game on the 29th, so I won't make it that day, but I'll definitely be down for Sunday. Maybe you guys can throw some stickers on my car and run it.

nothing concrete, but we dont think it was a mechanical problem in the motor.

I can help out, but probably not before the E-Town event. I think I'm going to donate the funds from my S/C sale, but I don't want to jump the gun on that until I get the funds for it.

Ross, is there any way you can periodically update how much funds you've collected and a ballpark figure of how close we are to getting this engine built like the previous Spec-A?

Hopefully, we can soon get you guys to a point of taking a spare spec-a engine to each event...just like the tranny.

 

Its not much, but I added a little bit to the cause as well. I'll give more when I get paid again and have more "fun money" laying around. You guys were amazing to my girlfriend and me when we met you in Chicago. I want to help you guys out in any way I can.

That really sucks that Scion isn't helping you guys at all. You are pushing the limits of their car and proving that Scions can be race worthy vehicles. Like you said, it would be different if you weren't winning, but with so many wins, it blows me away that they still ignore you.

 

Sorry for not replying sooner. Not sleeping for 48 hrs straight can really screw things up and it takes a while to get your body and mind back on track.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank all the members on SL that have contributed to our racing fund to get the ptuning tc back on track. We are really touched by your generousity as well as your support. Racing is not cheap, you fix one thing and another thing breaks--it's just the reality of racing. To win a race, it takes a team effort and we know now that our team not only includes the ptuning crew but also many of the members on SL that have followed and support our racing effort from day one.

As for last weekend's race at CMP, the team was devastated when we realized that we would not be able to compete in the time attack session on Sunday. We did not loose this race since we did not run, but we really wanted to take home another win for the scion community. Our team did everything we could to try to make it happen, but after 48 hrs of no sleep, driving 8+ hrs back to the shop from CMP on Saturday night, and working all night to drop in a replacement stock motor that did not want to run, we called it quits at 5am on Sunday. There was just no way for us to drop the stock motor again, fix the problem and put it back together in time for Toan to tune the car and drive another 8+ hrs back to the track and be able to compete on Sunday afternoon. We tried our best and we didn't want to give up, but the reality was that it was just not meant to happen--at least not for this race.

We're hoping that what we learn on the track will help us to develop better aftermarket components for the scion tc community--mainly forced induction. If there's a weak link with the tc platform, we'll find it and hopefully we'll be able to use that knowledge to develop race proven parts and services for the tc platform.

At this point, we are unsure as to what went wrong, but we know it's not a mechanical issues or tune with the motor. The car ran flawlessly at full power for the first practice session on Saturday, but after coming in for a refuel and checking the fluids, it went back out and only completed one lap before the engine sputtered and seized up. We are speculating that the motor grenaded due to a failed fuel pump or wiring issues with the ecu's prototype patch harness. The block, rods, pistons are all intact, but i can't say that about the cylinder head--mainly cylinder #1. We'll try to get some pics together once we're able to diassemble the cylinder head.

Right now the fund stands at $270, + a Clutch (for raffle), and maybe some other parts. It looks like we'll have a few parts to raffle off so look for those coming up soon. I'll keep the total updated as things progress, but right now that pays for the hotel rooms for E-town, and maybe gas to and from.

1st off LMAO! I made a small donation for now, I haven't gotten a full paycheck since I have returned from vacation yet but once I do I will definately hook you up with more. Once Lethal removes my old transmission you're more than welcome to take it not exactly sure what is good in it. Fourth gear should be fine I'm not exactly sure about first and second or the synco for first and second. Everything is in working condition still in it, I know first and second took a beating at the drag strip still shifts fine.

You know I still have that spare Half-trans and gears and what not still, that is also at your disposal. I will see what I can do as well for a contribution. Perhaps a fundraiser in the form of a car wash could be done through MCS to help donate to the cause. We have done charitable organizations prior, don't see why we can't figure something out to show some PTuning love.
