Ptuning, still a force in Time Attack
What a crazy weekend, and what a great ending. Congrats to Ken Fox, 1st time attack ever and with no practice brought home a 2nd place in Mod FWD! Ross also brought home a 1st place in Mod RWD running his Vette! I squeezed out a 3rd place finish in Mod FWD right behind Ken litterally fighting for podium with him in the final session.
Ken and Ross were at the TA Saturday and I joined them with the rest of the Ptuning crew that evening. Ken had a piston go bad (#4) that morning and we went in full force to fix his car. With redbull, droplights, and 2 jacks we managed the impossible.... we changed a piston in a tC at the track. Yes this proceedure is not recommended without machine work, but we pulled it off. Not only did the car run strong, the leakdown was near perfect!!!!!! The diagnosis for the piston fail may be an injector (injectors sent out to be tested). I switched injectors 3 and 4, Ken drove car around pits for 10 minutes, I checked the plugs and #3 (was #4 injector switched to #3) was leaner. We added fuel to that cylinder and pulled timing on that cylinder to be safe and all was good for the sessions.
As for my car, it was flawless and strong. Only issue was that I hit speed cut 1/3 the way down the back strait. It probably cost me almost 2 seconds, but nothing could be done. Next step there is to put the Yaris gears I have in along with raise the rev limiter (when I get Haltec).
P.S. I stole pics from Bdis

Thanks for the cred. I noticed you hit speed cut on the straight. Everyone in the crowd was loving the xA. I talked with ross for a second about his Vette and the problems ken was having. I'll see you guys at a track as soon as my car gets done($). We can have a little P-tuning vs back yard builder match up. lol. Congrats to all though.

Hey everyone! I did have a blast this weekend! Although, I was pretty down about the engine troubles. Justin and the guys came in at 10pm Saturday night and didn't stop working until 45 minutes before the first race session. To give you an idea, I think it was about 18 hours. This, all after working a full day at the shop and driving to the event!!! I admit that when I saw my motor in pieces Sunday morning, I told Toan to pack it up if they wanted. The look on their faces was unbelievable! They looked like zombies!
The second session, Justin and I chased each other around until he flagged me by. My closing speed was getting better and better until I ended up at his back bumper.
I would love to make the Time Attack in IL. I will have to look at some things in my budget this year to see if I can make such a long trip.
A huge thank you to Justin and everyone at PTUNING! Without them, I would have been devastated! They pulled off a miracle!
Thanks to Ross for instructing me around one full lap in practice! On the second lap, the rear of the car was engulfed in smoke and my day was over.
Thank you to my girlfriend! When I was down all weekend, she lifted my spirits every time. She kept me sane through the whole thing and was my biggest supporter!

I was running right around 13psi with meth on.
First place went to an orange RSX. I forgot the driver's name though. I believe he was 4 seconds faster than us. I'm sure that Doug in his Mopar Neon would have taken first, but he broke and was unable to compete.
***EDIT***Jose Mercado had the RSX and he was 4.5 seconds faster than me!

Doug was running in both classes. He told me that he had a downpipe swap. One had a cat and the other didn't. Other than that, I think he also had a different set of wheels and tires for each class as well.

yes that RSX was smokin. Also I forgot to mention, Ken and I were running street tires in Mod class. Both of our cars would have passed for street tire class, less the cat and open dump on Kens car.

Street tires will definitely handicap you that's for sure. Good running guys.
