Default question about cel

another noob question...the cel comes on after about 50 or so miles after i reset it. it was throwing the code there is a faulty catalytic converter which makes sense since i dont have any. i remeber meaty mentioned in another post that the a/f eugo should go after both o2 sensors. i have the cel eliminator on the o2 sensor on the spipe. i have it setup where it goes o2 sensor, a/f eugo, then o2 sensor. some one please HELP!!!

thanks

nate

yeah my antifoulers on the s-pipe as well. hmmm the faulty cat code isnt a big concern. you could just keep checking your codes every now and then to make sure your not throwing any more serious codes. idk what else could help with getting rid of that cat code..... hope you can find a solution, good luck.

My AEM wideband sensor is position about 2 inches away from the Primary 02 sensor in the down pipe. You have it correct though in that you should put the anti-fouler on the 02 sensor that's in the S-pipe. If the Anti-fouler does not work, try cleaning the 02 sensor with some MAF cleaner, and then plug it back into the Anti-Fouler.

Sorry...didn't see this thread.
You mentioned in the PM that you had 3 bungs in your S-pipe...what's in the 3rd one?

^^ Why is it there anyway?

I only have one code now. And that is System to Rich due to the Primary Sensor. I probably just need to get a new 02 Sensor, and I think I might not have any CEL lights period. I use to get the Cel for having no cat, even though I had the anti-fouler on there. I cleaned the second sensor and now it seems the anti-fouler is working, as I'm no longer getting that code.

rhythm, if your getting a rich code but no more cat inefficiancy code, it could be due to yoru lack of partial thorttle tuning. Didn't you say your WOT AFR are fine, but partial throttle are rich? getting and tuning off the greddy pressure sensor, or getting the dezod black box, shoudl fix that.

No. My part throttle has always been the same ever since the car was turbo'ed. Never changed that, so I don't see how that would cause the code to disappear. The car is untuned right now. And when it was really rich at WOT a long time ago, it never through the rich code. I would believe that over time, the Primary sensor fouled out, and with it having a bad sensor, it's now making the code appear. My car has always ran 10's A/F ratio at WOT. The other day I tested it just to see what the A/F would read, and it was reading 10.5-10.7 at WOT. But like I mentioned, it's always been that rich at WOT. No part throttle tunning was ever done (even though I drive at Part throttle a all the time). It does not go rich at part throttle. Stays around 14's. But yeah I had planned on a Pressure sensor some day, just was to lazy to order it....

I think I got your partial and WOT comments mixxed. I should have said WOT, but yeah, what you said sounds right about the sensor fouling out after so long of 10.5AFR WOT runs.

Can you imagine what I could have done with 11 - 12's A/F ratio...

The next tune on this car will be somewhere in the 11's A/F, and a few Evo owners hearts broken...

A Cel though has never stopped me from fooling the emissions stations computer though...

^^How long have you been boosted. Cleaning the 02 is not a difficult task, so I say "doesn't hurt to try". Just go to Advanced Auto and pick up some MAF sensor cleaner. It says just that....."MAF Sensor cleaning/cleaner".

10.0 at WOT is robbing you of HP, Gas mileage, and will for sure be a sure way to foul out your spark plugs and 02 sensors.

The Black box and the pressure sensor are pretty much one in the same, so you don't need both. But either will help the tuner tune your car with more precision.

Yeah, if your getting tuned, get the pressure sensor instaed of the black box. if your not gonna get tuned, just get the black box...but yeah, 10 at WOT is way rich. And chances are, if your gauge is pegged at 10, it's probably richer then that, cause that basically burying the needle!

that could be y i lost too the 240 i raced a couiple weeks ago cause i thought i would be much quicker but i thought wrong thanks for the advice guys. i bought the kit used off someone and he had both the greddy pressure snesor and the black box so i guess its better that i have both. yea hopefully i get tuned this month and ill see if it fixes some of the issues.

thanks

i had the same plroblem you had after i replaced the headers, you have to go to your local autozone and spend 2.99 and get the anti fouler mod. you get two of them, take out your o2 sensor in your spipe and put in a non modded anti fouler into the o2 sensor hole, than with the second one that it came with screw a 1/2 inch hole into and screw that one into the non modded fouler then screw the original o2 sensor into the modded fouler and BAM no cel. so it goes non modded fouler, modded fouler, original o2 sensor
