Quick question, Im a newbie to FI

Starting tomorrow I am gonna install my custom turbo setup. And my question to you guys is. Do you have to remove the oil pan in order to tap it? or can I just leave it on?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

do you wand metal bits floating around inside your motor???

yes, you should be smart and safe by dropping the pan.

if you know of a way to punchout that taphole without getting on the inside then SURE

Yes drop the pan. Read some of the DIY turbo installs on here. I remember one of them showing an easy way to drop the oil pan without a blow torch. Can I ask what your custom kit consists of?

Thats what I heard can you put a huge strong magnet up to it while drilling to prevent the metal shavings from falling in? Then some how try to get them out

Do it the hard way. But.

I punched it, greased the tap, tapped it , then ran a few quarts of cheap oil through.

a magnet will only attarct ferrous metals.

the block you would be tapping is non-ferrous...a magnet will not do anything for you.

Dont tap the block. My kit came with a adaptor that converted you to where u want to be.

what did you do for your oil return??
