so after refund, they run us $400 plus shipping? Not bad at all.

( i need to get in touch with them to get some quotes on work done at their shop. I think the drive would be worth it)

Regrinds, should not be that expensive. Its all man hours, there is no product cost. Once they have everything down, its a simple CNC reproduction that takes an hour.

A normal regrind on most vehicles runs around $200 per cam. The tC is no different once it is done on a mass level.

I might have looked wrong. But with the price they are, I cannot afford. If this is the price, I wont be able to do it.

Well, don't know what to say.... It seems no one has attempted to do this besides Ripp for our cars.

I understand that, and do appreciate it. And I guess by being the first you can charge whatever you want. But Doing some research right now on other toyotas, nissan, hondas and the prices are looking to be about $193-$264 for regrind of a single cam. And around $620 for a BRAND new SET of cams for DOHC.

Just because it never has been done for our specific car, doesnt mean its more expensive than the SUPRAs cams. Im not trying to bash at all, and this price the RIPP is charging might be correct, but its to much for me.

The only thing you’re not factoring in is called engineering time and data acquisition; those are up front costs which RIPP has incurred. At the moment we cannot secure better cost as we have not placed an order for 200 units. If the number jumps up a bit we may be able to get it down some, but not much. We are not a greedy company we simply want to supply you with product at a fair price. Besides there a few different ways to grind cams... the cheap way (Cold) and the expensive but stronger way hot..., guess which one we are doing.

To make Billet blanks will cost much, much more.

Honestly you have two choices here....

Buy in and become the 2nd through 11th people who actually have these cams installed, or....

You can wait until someone else can do it for cheaper, if that happens at all.

^ I thought the only way to make higher cams would be to weld them higher or use other cams from a different car and cut them lower. .... is my thinking wrong?

Yes, that’s how it works however.... its a little more complex than that there is math involved.... that’s like saying to hook up a network all you have to do is buy a cable or get network cards

There are no "other" cams to buy so welding is the only way to go, then profiling and then cutting... its a long process, after which they are hardened for rigidity.
