s/c build
Hey guys ,
I have been reading around for the past couple of months and have been piecing my s/c together and finally i have almost everything i need . I have searched and i remember i had read a thread on here that their is a s/c guy running the stock thermostat on their vehicle . Is it ok to run my s/c with the stock thermostat ? i know the TRD one is rated at 160' and the stock one is 170 or 180' dont know if thats right . But will it make a huge diffrence. All i am missing for my install is the TRD thermostat and the gasket for it .
Also can any one direct me to a site where i can pick up some s/c pulley side bearings and what part number they are . Below is the list from the thread on here about the supercharger build. I dont know which ones they are .
Rebuild Info
Bearings-
For the impeller shaft bearings
2 Nachi ball bearings nac-6003 (must be speed rated to 65000 RPM)
For the main input shaft bearings
2 SKF Ball Bearings 6205/C31
End Part / shaft assembly....
There are two end bearings part number 6205 2rs
Seals-
25-40-7 is the metric size of the shaft seal.. Timken part #222540
If anyone is wondering why i am looking to put bearings similar to stock on the s/c is because i will be saving money up till i purchase gompka's s/c shaft . I am working on the grease fitting for the pulley side following gompka's instruction thread. Maybe these bearing might last me 1k miles or something close with the grease keeping them lubricated . I hardly drive my car so it will be pretty much sitting Monday-Friday so i know the wear on them wont be as much as a daily driver.
Thanks guys in advance

Yeah I have the stock thermostat in mine and I dont have any problems. Been like that a while. I would advise putting new compressor bearings and seals into it before you install it into the car so you dont have down time later.

Alright thanks ... so you can run it with the stock one with no problem so that helps me from buying it for now .
Well i checked the bearings in the compressor and they look good for now . Not sure about the seal but i might just buy the one listed in the s/c rebuild thread . I know for the long run i am going to need the ceramic bearings from you and the shaft from Gompka. But for now i will be happy just having everything installed to get rid of the big box in my living room . would you be able to tell me which bearings go in the pulley side of the shaft .

RockAuto.com Search under Scion > Year > tC > cooling system > thermostat
GATES Part # 33867 {Regular - 170º Bottom By-Pass (2 3/16" x 47/64" x 1 11/16" x 1 3/16")} 170 Degree; Alternate Temperature $10.61
Might as well get the gasket ($1.71) and seal ($0.78 ).
The stock thermostat is 180º. TRD is 160º. Gates is 170º. Like Kik said, it's not really needed, but it's pretty cheap.
