Default S/C Oil Pan Install

I could use some tips on how to remove the stock oil pan. There isn't too much room to get a pry bar around the whole seal. Anybody have any specific tools they used that made this easier? Has anyone tried using the sst tool the manual lists? I have called a few dealerships and they are quoting this as a 2-3 hour job ($200-$300), I'd rather save this money for upgrades later on.

Use double sided Razor Blades, the kind you find in box cutters

Get a small hammer and hammer 1 razor between the pan and the block, and hit it until it wont go in anymore

Then grab another blade and place it under the first blade, and hammer it all the way in

After about 8 blades the pan can just be pulled off with your hands

I have done about 8 pans this way, and it usually takes about 10-15 minutes

Torch works great - also make sure to remove pass side tire and plastic splash guard - thats the easiest place to use mallet + screwdriver

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have a propane torch so I will try this, and will also have some razor blades ready. I will let you know how it goes, but it won't be until after this weekend.

Well, I got the oil pan off using NVMyTc's technique. I tried using the torch and got nowhere, might not have had the right prybars/chisels.

This was very easy using the directions NVMyTc gave. I decided to put the blades a corner of the pan between the cs pulley and the oil filter, it's easy to get to with the wheel and plastic off, and also gets two sides going at the same time. After the fourth or fifth blade you can start hearing the silicone separating and you can then pry it off. I would also suggest threading a couple of the bolts on so the pan doesn't fly off and spill everywhere(found a post where this happened to someone).

Sorry for going into so much detail, but hopefully this will help the next person who has this problem.
