Default s/c for solara?

Hello, im new to this forum as you can see
i own an 05 solara with the 2az
ive been starting to read up a bit on f/i lately and being in cali, s/c would probably be the best way to go if i decide to boost

question i have is do any of you guys know of a camry/solara running the tC s/c?
how well does it fit? what mods might be needed?
just thought id ask
thanks for reading

well, it would fit since it is the same engine, but problem is the layout of the engine compartment, and maybe even clearances of the hood, battery, intake, fuse box etc.

and while it is carb approved for the tC, does that extend to any car it can be installed on?

also, the ecu relash might not work, especially if it is an auto, it mightnot work out very well. so you might have to tune with a piggyback ecu.

this is something that is worth it to watch take lots of photos and a vid if you do
its a Toyota plug and play. like draxcaliber say it all comes down to the ecu with a piggyback and a good tune

on second thought not without a big hood the photos im looking at now no room at all the tc moter sits far back in the bay no room to move in the solara

feal free to drop by any scion meet around you and ask if you can see someones s/c that will give you the best ideal

There's a couple guys in the scion forum over at toyotanation.com with 2az camrys trying to do the same thing. One of them is trying to adapt the ecu.

My thought is that if you can get it mounted go piggy back or full ems and forget trying to swap the ecu.

thanks guys for the info
i always though the solara had a lot of empty space in front
but ill take alook at my friend's tc and compare....
or maybe ill take a pic of my engine bay and u can see

the main thing is the ecu reprogramming?
i dont know all the lingo yet....but ill look them up
also there is a solara recently who put on the turbonetics tc turbo kit w/some custom piping and is running the piggyback i think....does that mean it could be possible to do the same with the tc
im guessing not?

yeah, but he could have had the piggyback ecu retuned to work with the engine, which is fairly simple to do. b

but the supercharger comes with a onetime use trd reflash designed just for the tc's ECU, which might not be exactly like the tC's ECU.

also, if there is a 2nd separate reflash for the automatic transmission tC's to use the supercharger. changes shift points i think.

so just some food for thought, you might have to consider a piggyback regardless.

I would think with out a doubt you'd have to use a piggyback or full ems. The Camry/Solara is stock tuned for comfort and economy while the tC is tuned for "sport".

Not 100% sure but since they have different HP and TQ figures and shift points I would assume they are tuned differently.

...that's not to say you couldn't just plug in the tC ecu and have a Camry/Solara that behaved like a tC. I'm just assuming it wouldn't be that easy.

won't be able to just plug in the ecu for the tc since the pins on the solara are different each pins control something different

There you go then. Piggyback or full ems is the answer to that question.

So then its just a matter of mounting it.

thanks for your help guys ill keep reading into f/i stuff so i can maybe do this sooner than later

for ems do you mean something like this?
http://www.importtuner.com/reviews/p...tem/index.html

also heres a pic of my engine bay....the s/c would go above the headers in this case correct?

does it look like enough space? haha
i guess theres also the case of hood clearance

thanks again guys

the extended drive shaft shouldn't has a problem clearing the header, but the heat shield might have to go. the real clearance issues are towards the driver size where the supercharger housing itself has to go.

You're going to have to ditch the side engine mount. It sits right where the sc pulley goes.

ok so now i want to see how much i would need to have to continue with maybe doing this project

can anyone recommend any EMSs?
and about how much they would cost?

so far ive planned jpp headers, s/c, smaller pulley, tranny cooler into the price and was wondering how much more i would need to cough up
thanks again!!
