SC rebuilt by Ptuning (edited)

Holy geez, that is a new one. That sounds like whatever turns the shaft is not engaging properly or at all. Somebody a long time ago had issues with the bolts backing out and the "key" breaking...there was a special name for it...can't remember. They ended up buying a new "key" from a parts store. Or your bearings are actually turned to slush.
If it makes you feel any better, I recently had my 4th 100% stock supercharger develop issues in the bearings on the belt side. I get a nice chirp. Point being, TRD straight up denied warranty assistance because apparently they just can.

damn, i have heard few people on their 3rd SC, you are the first one i heard on 4th, Wyatt.
Toyota really screw up on the SC.
this guy on youtube needs a "woodruff key"

I am going to get kikcaffine's supercharger kit later, and install by Ptuning.

Here's that thread I was thinking of, and yes "woodruff" key is the one I was looking for!!

I am not sure if that is indeed the problem you are having but your sound sure is different than the others posted here.
FWIW, I've had an excellent experience with my dealership, Toyota has been good, Scion has been great, and TRD has been an incredible PITA. I am sure they are dealing with numerous, numerous valid/invalid warranty issues involving busted superchargers but, come on! They need to sack up and and admit that they missed a detail somewhere in the production process that has made these things so weak and/or prone to failure. Its an absolute joke at this point.
So, I repeat, TRD FTL.

look, the trd supercharger is a pretty solid piece of machinery, the problems come from bad installs, inept or inexperienced mechanics who haven't done more more than oil changes over their toyota career.

correction. The VORTECH charger is a pretty solid piece of machinery..they sell them all day long. However, the TRD design of a long-butt jackshaft, crappy brackets and poorly designed tolerances plus installations by techs who normally check dipstick fluid....recipe for disaster.

P Tuning will offer this service (supercharger rebuild) most likely in the next few months pending there is no issues with the two done so far. Before we offer it as an advertised service we like to make sure parts used (bearings and seals) don't fail. Scott M. (good customer and friend) will be running the time attack with us this weekend, we built his supercharger probably 3 months ago... so that will be a good test.
I will tell you, that the Vortech supercharger is NOT a solid piece of machinery, rebuilding his supercharger, before i even put the bearing puller on the small bearings they fell apart in my hand... and if you look closely at the inner race on one of the small bearings, it is chewed up as if the ***** seized. Feel free to call P Tuning in a few months to let us know evrything is fine with the re-build, customer feedback is what will determine this service.

right, but why did they seize? because it's on a 2 foot long jackshaft - not the norm. install the apparatus outside of tolerance even a few millimeters and that translates to more movement on the other end, and you get an axial load that was never meant for those bearings...so the bearings get chewed up.
the charger itself is not the problem. it is the application.
