Progress is made but slowly. The crankshaft was allready machined and is ready for install! . The new oil pump is ready. The old one was probably OK but we are not running any chances here!
At this time the crankshaft is probably going to be installed in the engine this sunday but we can not finish because we are waiting for the new flywheel bolts to arrive. After I re-install the engine it is going to be up to Roberto to re-install the tranny when the flywheel bolts arrive! .

At this time we expect the car to be ready the weekend before new year!

The oil pump is a new OEM unit with a modified valve!!

Pito when you said the tach puts out a 12volt digital signal, is this what a voltmeter would read for test purposes?

or is that the fixed signal that the ECU reads?

I thought most digital RPM signals were 5volt digital or 12volt analog?

i PM'd you about it then realized you prob don't check those, yeah i know i'm a pest

happy hollydays by the way!!

Sorry for the delay!! I do check the PM's but the other day I wrote a reply to your PM and after I submitted it my PC crashed before sending it and I wasn't in the mood to re-type it!

I honestly don't check the tach signal since it is in most cases standard and can be connected to aftermarket electronics without a problem.

The 12v digital TACH signal that I talk about is what the FSM says. It is a 12 v digital signal that changes in frecuency according to RPM's. Since it is a varable frequency signal you should look at it using a Scope and not a DVM. The DVM is not going to be usefull here!

Today we where going to be re-installing the crankshaft We forgot to buy new thrust washers and they were not available from any of the local auto parts. We then decided to re-use the old ones since they wherecompletely fine and when we opened the new main bearings box I found one of the bearings was missing a hole .

Conclusion:
WE DIDN"T MADE ANY PROGRESS TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Pito

P.D. I did enjoyed the 2 hours round trip to Roberto's house just to eat lunch!!!!

Wow what a crazy build. Thanks for all the info your providing. It'll be extremely useful when I build my engine in 2008 =)

Feliz Navidad.
Merry Christmas.

Good luck with the rest of the build.
