I'd go turbo... a hairdryer isnt legal in Cali tho', so making this power goal on an S/C is a more costly challenge.

Matters on how much power you want...

S/C will give you less then a Turbo.

Both can be Daily Driven...

I daily drive my TurboToyotas kit and am getting 252whp at 5psi and 320whp at 8psi.
It's pretty much a bolt on - get it tuned afair.

what year is your tC?

^ or realize that turbos prefer automatics

BTW you'll easily find turbo kits out there with a search.

doing a tranny swap isn't that simple, the cost and problems you can run into, and the chances of things going wrong, mean it would just be a hell of a lot easier to just buy a manual.

also, if this is your daily driver, how much downtime can you afford? swapping in a manual isn't a quick thing.

Exactly...you say "tranny swap" like it's a simple thing like "change the oil" It's a BIG DEAL.

Autos are putting down 230-250whp just fine. If you really want more, you might be better off trading in your auto for a manual.

Yeah...don't expect alot of power and don't expect to be in the 13s. Other then that, there are plenty of Autos pushing 240whp and loving it.

Look into the Basik kit by TurboToyotas...the tubular ram-horn manifild on it is better suited for an automatic then the other log style manifolds that are out there.

U can outperform the shifts of a manual. A bigger oil cooler, perhaps a higher stall torq. converter might help.

Also, an auto does not lose much boost between shifts.

The stock tC transmision cannot shift faster then a manual...if you had a race auto tranny like a Vette or a Supra, yes... but the econobox auto 4 in the tC is not built for quick shifting. And first is TERRIBLE.
