Should I jump on this turbo kit? What would you suggest?
One of my dream is to get a turbo but i do not have 3-4 grand for a decent new kit (plus installation and tune?!)
So there is somebody selling a used zpi kit... comes with a 16g turbo which needs a rebuild.
hks bov , concept 38mm wastegate, zpi manifold- no cracks, intercooler, aem fic with universal harness. 10 feet of 2.5" piping which can be custom bent..
so this is just under 1 grand!!!! if i understand all i need is injectors ( 550cc?) which is around $360
to rebuild the turbo is like $150 (?) [ or just get a new 16g or 18g? does 18 g would fit?)
do i need an aem harness or universal is ok? ( universal means it needs to split sliced in to the factory harness?)
i dont know too much about how much these stuff worth or is it worth it to jump on this at all?
I would be happy with 260 whp....

I'd go for it. I sold my stage 0 with a blown turbo seal, cracked manifold, and cut charge pipe for $1300. You can run the universal harness, but like you said, you need to splice the OEM harness which I wouldn't do. Just rebuild the turbo, get the injectors, a PnP harness, and a good tune.

this is what i would need or this:
http://www.customcarscentral.com/bms...-scion-tc.html
so basically the whole turbo kit would be like 2 grand ( with the price of the rebuilding and injectors and harness) plus install and tune. :/

I'm not sure how good the boomslang harness is, but here's a link to Dezod's harness.

i had mine hardwired to save the money on the pnp harness.
that 2.5pipe has to be bent alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i know this because of the horrible placement the zpi mani leaves the turbo basicly unclockable.
you might be better off buying pre-made pipes like dezod.
as for the blown seal shouldnt be expensive to fix.
there is a new zpi thread we made you should check it out before buyign it.

Yes you wont have money but you won't be repairing anything. But hey won't say I told you so. Ask any serious modder here and they will say the same thing "don't boost on a budget". GL

if you spend the 4k on a good kit + good tune... you can save your money back up again while everything is running good. buying the zpi kit means you'll have to pay extra money in costs that you didn't forsee coming. as well as stuff going wrong that you'll have to fix.
