Simple kit > S/C?
#41
Well you said you may move soon wait then. But if you get the S/C get Kikcaffine's rebuild kit. You shouldnt have to worry about the dealer warrenty then. But also which I forgot to mention and i dotn think anyone has yet is the pulley on the newer S/C has a tamper proof bolt that can be taken off not easily though but there goes your warranty for sure and you wont get above maybe 220whp without the 9lb pulley and a tune. So hope your happy with 210-215ish whp and that aint reached til damn near redline. Dont sound like much fun to me.

I agree 100% that turbo pwns SC all day everyday, bang for buck, etc etc
but but but
for 07-08 SC is 3000, plus 600-800 install and tune at dealer (anything more and u got raped)
simple kit $3200
wideband uego, oil pressure, boost (yes they are all necessary and its hard to find good deals on used ones so lets say new) $500-700 brands, quality etc etc
stage 3/4 clutch (yes its necesary, for 260-280 whp, stock clutch will not hold) $400
kit install, guage install, clutch install, tune and dyno $800-1200 (unless u got ppl)
thats a whopping $5100 and thats not including a 3" exhaust
so yes people turbo is more bang per buck, and has much more potential, but to the average realistic consumer, the SC is much more realistic

yeah.. i know all of that.. and some ppl said its 6 grand to get an s/c .. LOOOOOOOOOOL
its not even 4 grand for an 08 tc...... INSTALLED
for my car 3 grand the s/c... 500 the install plus exhaust, pulley, header everything together will be like 4 grand and i will gave 230hp.. and u.. with the turbo.. u spend another 3 grand for another 30 hp... YEAY!
its not worth it if u have 07-08... the extra price of the s/c is killing the whole deal

I'm not going to read this whole thread cause I gotta go, but I'm going to add that the 220 or whatever HP you get from the SC is at redline, you will get the full 250 or whatever from any turbo kit at 5K+rpm giving you room to actuallly use that HP.
...but the SC is legal...

well...im getting this kit....i have a 2.5" exhaust already and my gauges are under $400...everyone is making this turbo thing much more expensive than it is...i know that a supercharger installed at a dealer is more expensive than the simple kit installed by a few intelligent friends and a tune and dyno at a good shop...

lmao coming from a guy with a S/C dont bother. If you are looking for power on a newer tC, 07-09 go for an entry level turbo kit, it will eb roughly a grand 1.5 k more and the power will be a whole nother world.
Only reason i went S/C was because I didnt have that much money and wanted more power....NOW! I clearly regret my decision seeing how much money ive spent, for a grand more I coulda used a basic kit and been pushing ATLEAST 250 WHP instead of 210-220

face it, u need those two things to be running SAFELY....
hell i could slap a treadstone kit on my car for 3K and call it a day, but its not about just running, its about running right and safely
and a SC under warranty is about as safe as it gets

^ 180!!, where, i need one, last i checked it was at least 250 new, its not so easy finding a used one, i not saying that the SC is better, im saying its cheaper 3500 installed and running right on 07-08 vs 3200 + 600 tune + 250 UEGO = 4100 and i would not be able to sleep at night
read my post above,i back turbo over SC, i personnally am saving for the simple kit, im just sayin the SC is infact cheaper then any turbo kit with Management out there

Sorry, 195 shipped. You guys need to learn how to shop, no wonder some of you keep coming up with $7000+ for a simple kit.

and c'mon, a wideband in NECCESSARY...a clutch is NOT. I've been boosted pushing 252 WHP for a year on stock clutch...yeah, I can't slam it off the line, but it's fine for roll races, and normal freeway driving. I ONLY slip when I slam it off the line.
all in all, the SC ends up being cheaper by a few hundred dolars...but that's like saying "I can get this Alpine deck for $300 with all these features, but this Dual is only $100"...is it really worth saveing a couple hundred dollars for a lesser product?...you get what you pay for...

i am dead honestly not tryin to argue with anyone, im just saying its cheaper, as in a little less dough, if u read my top post i clearly state that turbo pwns all, but even if its 200bucks ITS STILL CHEAPER then a turbo, thats all
and no u wont need a clutch to drive like a normal person, but if u bought a turbo for ur car, more then likely you will be driving it hard, hence the NECESSARY clutch, u should not be slipping AT ALL, it will only kill ur clutch that much quicker, then u will eventually have to replace it
and ur ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
u get what u pay for
big things require big bucks
and all these SC problems u speak of are 05-06 related, last i checked only a handful of 07-08 were having any problems at all (which i think is the reason for the 3k price tag)
