slicks vs. DR
I seen you guys getting into a heated argument about DR's, truth is there are pro's and con's to both. Primarily i want some of you guys to post up what you use, size, rims, power level and your impression of what your using (feel and grip).
Personaly I used Drag Radials
I used BFg 225/45R17 cause they fit the stock rim. A friend of mine hooked me up with an extra pair of stock rims. At that time i was pushing 298hp 301tq. Overall they were much much better than any stock tire i ran before, at this power level i couldnt break em loose at the track or on the street. The bfg's are street legal so if you get lazy you can drive home in em without issues. I still wouldnt want to do it in the rain but i have before, not bad. They feel like a stock tire on the street but just grip much better. They are fine for daily driving if you wanted, they will wear much faster than a stock tire though.
The biggest reason I went with DR's though is overall cost, I couldnt find a slick that would fit a stock rim and i didnt have the money to just go out and buy some decent racing rims.

Drag radials can offer a VERY good grip. And are good for someone who is using street and track use. Most radials have very little sidewall (17" 18")
With no sidewall your putting more potential stress on Axles, clutch , trans!
If you could Afford slicks i would rec them to anyone. Even a stock tc.
A drag radial was created to offer both street and track use.
Either way it comes down to driving, preloading and launch.
My setup was 24.5x8x15 Mickey thompson slicks on 15x7.5 rims.
Stock axles
Twin disk clutch
Two Steped at 5500 rpms and still have the axles i bought the car with.

yes when it comes to saving ur drive train it is slicks>drag radials...
a slick has a really soft sidewall and wrinkles/flexes when u launch it thus abosorbing the shock , a radial is more stiff and wont absorb such impact which can result is broken drive train parts...

are the T/A's actually considered a real DR though? I always thought they were still a street compound.
I personally havent used a d/r or a slick on the tC but when I raced my mustang I personally liked a slick 100 times more they just feel more stable on the track. A radial is nice if you have a daily that you track often, but if you have 2 sets of rims slicks are defiantly the way to go.
D/R's that I have used and love are the nitto 555 r's and the new nitto NT05's, also mickey Thompson ET Streets are great
as for slicks Mickey Thompson's can't be beat as well as hoosiers

i prefer slicks for the track and drag radials for street rolls... no sense sometimes in DR's at the track becuause of the obvious posted... it really depends on the location and what your doing at least for me....

yea perfect example was at mir IMPORT VS DOMESTIC this summer... 90 percent of hondas that broke an axel where from drag radials or slicks that werent deflated to wrinkle so they can abosorb impact/shock

I have the same experiance as you. Same size tires on my stock wheels. And I don't break loose in second.
Like it was said. Pros and cons to both. But def. not a waste of money to buy radials.

Never experianced any other tire other than my dunlops star specs
I'm impressed
