Impressive study Paul!
I'd like to tell my story...that when I visited my local Hyundai dealership, I asked if I could sit in the car (it was locked outside). The lady said sure, and reassured me (she saw me pull into the lot with my Scion) that I would need to allow for a credit check to even test drive it. Good marketing scheme eh?
Anyways, I'm not trying to dog on Hyundai, I'm sure they have a great foundation and I am ready to see some big numbers being produced on the V6, hopefully.

^i could understand that if you were trying to test drive a new evo or even a gtr, lol
but a 20k hyundai? they should be trying to do anything and everything to get you to buy the damm car! lol

it probably varies from dealership to dealership. like if you're in a nicer area, you assume that people who can afford to live there can afford a hyundai, while in poorer areas, you tend to assume people are bums. who knows.
my dealership actually had signs inside the STI's saying that they do not allow test drives in them. guess you have to test drive a wrx to guess if you'll like STI. or maybe if you seem to be a genuinely interested customer with good credit, they'll let you.

my brothers girlfriend was looking at Evo's and they let her test drive the Evo X gsr with no problem! but i could see their reasoning for not letting anyone test drive just any car, but all dealerships should have at least 1 car for all customers to test drive!
i am itching to test drive the 2.0 genesis just so i could have an honest opinion of my own!

Well, i live in korea right now where hyundai's, kia's, etc. are made. I see ALOT of genesis's on the roads out here. Maybe i've been in korea too long but they look absolutely geourgous to me! The motor in the 2.0T's were mocked from mitsu's 4G63. While not completely identical, they share similar characteristics. This is what Mr. Cho from WedSport Performance Daegu told me.

The bottom end of the Genesis 2.0T's engine is identical to the Mitsubishi Ralliart but the head is all Hyundai which I feel is more important to the characteristics of an engine. Though I am sure it can handle some decent power, I think it is still far from the Mitsubishi engine.
I personally think these cars have a lot of potential and it will take several years before people really start getting good power from the engines. Remember when people completely doubted that the 2AZ-FE could handle 300 whp while now almost everyone who is turbo'd is around 300 whp.

So I was able to ride in a new Genesis 4cyl Track Edition coupe with an upgraded LoveFab kit on it. Nice tubular manifold, 3" downpipe, 3" exhaust, 3071R @ 20 PSI.......NOT impressed.
Our S1 on 12 PSI felt much faster. And it was confirmed when we swapped dyno numbers from ours on a Mustang Dyno and theirs on one too. Yeah..................... 327whp on 21 PSI.
Reference of kit
Only thing I liked about the whole car was the actual RWD factor.

It's a Variation of an Evo X Engine.. more like a Lancer Ralliart Engine.
It's an Engine group shared between Mitsubishi, Hyundai, and Chrysler.
It's weird, because as much hype as there was for these cars before they came out.. I really don't see too many in the streets.

I hear ya on that. I was contemplating on getting one a while back. But they sorta took to long to show me what they were capable of. Wonder how the V6 with TT's on it will be.
For the record....I've seen but one Gencoupe in the wild.

THAT I think may be an eye opener more than anything. I'd like to play.

haha the guy that sold me my tC left toyota to go work for hyundia and i walked in there and asked him if me and my buddy could test drive teh genesis and he said sure, let me go get the keys, also when you come back we have a nice 08 350z if you wanna drive that too" so needless to say we drove the Genesis 2.0t which in all honesty was an absolute blast to drive, i had so much fun in that thing, and it was so comfortable. and the 08 350z is a beast! and it sounded amazing

For that kind of money, I would pick up a last gen Z06 and have something that doesn't tilt the scales.
