Well if it's not cheap enough you can just always buy the hondata.

im sorry, why compare a toyota ecu to a honda ecu?
i believe this will be the first tc ecu that will be cracked, right? so R&D will be intensive, so the price to me is reasonable. check out technosquare on the ECU for 02-03 Spec V... expensive as heck, and it does not do the things that you want to do.

I can't wait to see results on this. Paul, when do you get the unit in for you to play around with? I'm just trying to gauge a time frame, at the moment I'm thinking mid November to see any results.

R&D and early adoption are just a couple of the reasons it will be expensive..

But more so, how many Hondas out there have Hondata?? A BUNCH.. they sell a lot more Hondata so they can afford to lower prices more.

There are only going to be a select few who will buy this unit.. even if it was only $1,000.. Until we have more enthusiasts buying stuff like this, prices are always going to be high.

Honda has had a looong head start in the Sport Compact mod arena - same with DSMs.. we have a long way to get to where they are.

I don't know the price puts it right up there with a standalone.

sounds like a reasonable price... as long as the software and capabilities of the product are up to par as well....

Any word on this systems capabilities? At the moment, I'm assuming it practically takes over the ECU and gives the user full control, plus some goodies as mentioned above. Am I correct to assume this?

Yes to an extent, but it runs parallel to the stock ECU not necessarily replacing it.

Sorry about that, didn't choose my words correctly. I didn't mean "take over" as in replaces it, but like you said, runs parallel to it.

Now, about it's limits, do you know yet?

And also, my tC is still up for grabs if you need it. haha

We are ready to test, but are just waiting for the manufacturer to get us the unit.

Gotcha.

Anything on what you will name it once you start selling it? I'm curious. Just so I know what to look for in the summer if/when I decide to start up with my tC again if I decide I'm not moving to something else...
