spool time.

spool time.
did a search and I don't feal like going through 200 forums to find my answer.
I am planning on building my own turbo setup, but am not sure what turbo I want to use.
if you could please give me your turbo type, who makes it, and effecting mods. and tell me approx. when you start to spool so that I can make a descision on wich one to choose.
thanks for your help.

I'd still reccommend searching...
I dont own a 16G (obviously for those who knwo me!) but I'm sure those guys will take care of that part...
On a log manifold:
A T3/T04B with an AR below .50 will spool below 2k rpms, and in higher gears (4 and 5) under load will make about 5psi at 2k rpms.
As you approach ARs over .60, expect spool starting around 2k, and really building up from about 3200 on. Peak boost will hit around 3600 and up depending on your exact turbo choice. A high end EBC can lower the peak spool to about 3300.
A t3/t04b can be built to make boost as low or as high as you want, for different rpm bands and anything else. You just need to take the time to figure out what you want. Feel free to email or call me if you'd like to get more specific. Tell me what you're looking for, and I can tell you what turbo type is good for you.

I am assuming everything Joe is saying is with a good external waste gate. As for a 16g I still do not have my IC piping connected but with my very short piping I can make full boost (~6.5 psi) at about 2.4k to 2.6k in 2nd gear. Also at anything over 3k rpm about 40% throttle (I don't know exactly but it is definitely less then half throttle) my waste gate starts to open (I have an open waste gate setup). It makes throttle control very sensitive on those freeway on ramps some times.
Oh ya I have a tial external waste gate also.

The jumpi-ness is exactly my complaint about a too small A/R and/or turbo.

I have a freind getting rid of his turbo for a t60-1. and is willing to give me a killer deal if I want it. he has the t3/to4e tubonetics. I like these turbos and have heard good things about them but I just want to get as much info as I can and do this right before I just jump in and waste alot of money, wich is really short supply for me. so if anyone is using this, like the turbonetics kit guys. please give me a little info.
thanks for all your help.
joe congrats on the modified section.
