Default spraying in first gear..

so i finally have my nitrous up and running... after i ditched the window switch since it would not work no matter what i did... so now i have a on off switch located near my wheel that i can just turn on and off while spraying...

my question is... i found that if i spray in first gear around 4000-4500 rpm.. i have no traction issues and then i just turn it off once it hits redline, and once it shifts i turn it back on....

is it ok to spray in first gear as long as everything feels ok? im running a 65 shot and of course my switch has a WOT sensor so im only spraying at WOT

as long as everything feels ok.. lol..

It sounds safe enough. I don't know much about nitrous since I just wouldn't trust it. I mean one problem and bang there it all goes. Is it a wet kit or a dry kit? A 65 shot isn't unsafe but you really have to ask yourself what am I gaining here and what am I risking.

wet kit... not worry about detonation... its spraying gas with the nitrous... i just wanted to make sure that 1st gear was ok to spray in as long as it was a higher rpm

I'm not going to go into this much, or at least i'll try to make this short, detonation should be of concern with both wet and dry kits. The dry kit tries to trick the MAF into increasing the amount of fuel, when this fails significantly, you have detonation. The wet kit does spray fuel with the nitrous but if ever the nitrous solenoid get stuck open as it did with my SL buddy, weelo, or if the fuel get is not of significant size for the nitrous jet being used, fuel leak occurs, etc., boom, detonation.

If you start spraying at 4500 rpm, you have roughly 1000rpm before you should probably stop spraying anyway so why not wait for 2nd gear?

In the end it is up to you, I can only tell you what I think, use the information or not but everyone will have different experiences. You'll have some that say you should "spray from the dick", meaning at all times when at WOT and you will have some that are more conservative and say lockout 1st and only spray between 3000 and 5500rpm.

Its completely up to you and how you feel you car handles. I lean towards the cautious side but you may decide not to do that, to each his/her own just don't blame anyone if something messes up somehow if you didn't take their advice to begin with.

thats why i ask..and what do u mean by the fuel get? you mean the fuel pressure and if there isnt enough to draw the extra fuel to shoot thru the fogger?

how often does this happen... anything under a 100 shot should not cause this problem ever correct? our fuel pressure would have to be dropped significantly for that to happen

not necessarly...im running a 75 shot and my fuel hose ripped while i was spraying, so i lost all my fuel pressure right there, but luckly i had a FPSS so it stopped spraying...pulled over, fuel everywhere!!!

If you get your Dynotune RPM/Window switch in there you will be fine. You are using the factory adapter so you did not have to tee into the fuel line, thus you don't have to worry about your fuel pressure and there won't be any leaks. I can understand the need for additional safety though and it is only a few wires to connect. The tC uses a returnless style fuel system. For the most part you should be fine.

Just one question, and not to be mean, but why are you spraying an automatic? I don't like Nitrous for many reasons, but an auto with spray probably is just as fast as a manual with a few bolt ons. I have read that a S/C auto is as fast as a manual with a few bolt on's. It's your car, so by all means do with it what you will, but I was just curious as to how much benefit there is.

well first off... a auto with a 65 shot is definately not only as fast as a manual with a few bolt ons..... i might have been wrong before that a auto with boltons is as fast as a stock manual... but my car will be faster than a manual with a few boltons ...

and i dont run a bonestock tc with nitrous... i have header, s-pipe, cold air intake, axleback, pulleys... only thing i dont have is a aftermarket mid pipe, and i might do that as well...

i would welcome a challenge from any manual with an axleback and cold air intake any day lol
