Default Stage 0 people only ?'s

Ok i'm getting my used stage 0 kit shipped this week and i have a few questions that i would like to here what other stage 0 users have to say.

1st How reliable is this without a tune?

2nd After a few hundred miles on the kit, how does the spark plugs look?

3rd Would it be better to get a 5 psi spring than the 6.5 psi spring?

4th Last one... Does everybody that have this kit really like it ?

Thanks

Just make sure you get it tuned, it's not something you want to cheap out on.

The closest tuner around here deals only with unichip.

Because its not intercooled I would recommend getting it tuned asap.

Otherwise get an intercooler and keep the boost down and you will be ok.

For now until i get a tune would it be more wise to lower the boost from 6.5 down to say 5 psi. I'm also getting a wideband put in before i install the kit.

Todd, my brothers got his stock srt-4 intercooler lying in the basement. With a little modifying, do you think that would keep things cool enough?

It will help thats for sure

It will keep the AIT's down and your factory knock sensor from going nuts.

Enjoy

I ran a ZPI stage 0 for a few months with no intercooler and no tune. No problems. Lots of fun.

I upgraded it to a 1.5 this weekend with an intercooler, engine management, gauges, etc. It's a good kit. Nice and sleeper. Gas mileage is going to go to crap, but you'll enjoy it.

I'm not to sure about that, i always herd that you lower the gap with the more psi you have so you don't get spark blow out.

Matt, I replied to your PM.

I would remove the primary 02 sensor from the tC. Install your wide-band in it's place. This will help keep the fuel matched to the air. You will still run stoichiometric when idling but will basically force the ECU tu run open-loop all the time. This will keep A/F in check when you get on it. Since you have the wide-band you can always double check. tC's ECU has a bad habit of forcing stochiometric A/F even when you are under boost under 3.5K rpms.

ok then. don't say i didnt tell u so though
but realistically, sparkplug gap would be the last thing on my mind, i would be worried about the turbo kit u just ordered! Sorry I sound mean right now but I wouldnt steer u wrong. Make sure u get quality wastgate gaskets (cause the one that comes in the kit sux), and start saving for a new turbine cause the one in that kit won't last long. My good buddy got his ZPI stage Zero this past summer and has gone through 2 turbines. Also stock up on sparkplugs cause they will foul out really fast without managment because the stage zero has OK AFRs wot but runs rich dailey driving so in weeks u will notice a drop in power when u floor it, that's the plugs fouled. Some floor their car a lot so this occurance isnt as common among those "spirited" drivers.

please print this post and read it in 3 months... and u will be like "wow that guy was right!"

and remember this, the only thing they make good from China, is Chinese food.

Primary 02 sensor is on the factory exhaust manifold. The secondary 02 sensor is in the S-Pipe.

Just unplug the factory 02 harness and wire-tie away from anything that gets hot.

You will of course get a CEL light when you unplug the 02 sensor harness.

Ok sounds good, any other tips would be great. Also why is it that you got rid of this kit, just curious.
