not really. the stock components are much cheaper and you wont even ever push those to the limits. you're asking for a saftey blanket on something you don't need a blanket for. i know somone who runs 400whp on stock internals. and todd has a car in AZ that runs 400whp on stock internals. honestly it's your money but i'm telling ya you are wasting it.

How much you want - and while im in there id rather replace rods also - just to refresh everything - and im still thinking about using 9:1 pistons - i have a feeling with the rings gone and the damage done ill need to bore the block to 89mm to remove damage to the cyl walls so stock pistons wouldnt work too well lol So what would you sell the rods for? And you still have the caps and cap bolts correct?

If you're going with forged pistons but stock rods and low whp, I would shot-peen the stock rods, and don't get 8.8:1 CR pistons.. I would stick with something higher like 9.5 or so. The forged piston will be stronger than ours, lighter, and with the almost stock CR, the car won't feel like a dog off boost.

Car-parts.com, find a clean very low engine and just swap it out, I bought a low mileage 07 for $1,400 locally, could of been less elsewhere but the shipping is a bit high.
There are a ton of used engines around and with a proper tune, you can run a very long time at the power level you want.
I also very much agree on comp ratio, you would kill the bottom end performance at low boost, low comp. I love high comp boost, much fun!!!

Just keep it simple man:
Block
Slight overbore if you want
9.5:1 pistons
Shot-peened stock rods
New bearings
Polished crankshaft
Head
Port/polish
Stock everything else.
This should be a super reliable 250whp engine as long as your tune is decent. The forged pistons will be more forgiving to pre-detonation.

ya they said i need a standalone to control the shift points cuz the stock ecu isnt able to read the amount of power i have good enough or something? idk.. im getting the greddy ultimate this week and were gonna try and work it out
