Supercharger and CAI - is it possible?
Hey all...I'm looking to make my supercharged tC faster. Is it possible to add a CAI to a supercharged engine? If not, what are some other ideas??

Haha...well I've already got that "cool sound" thanx to the supercharger!
Ok...so, if I CAN add a CAI, where do I get one that'll fit to the supercharger?? the blower obviously draws from the filter, and with that supercharger under the hood, there isn't much room for a standard sized CAI.
Has anyone found a solution to my problem?? i.e....you have a supercharger AND a CAI?
THanks for the help...

You can make your own CAI from Spectre's Power-adderr kit, they have bent pieces straight pieces (or use a flexible tube) and even a piece for the MAF. You can buy the pieces online or pick them up at pepboys/autozone/checker/advantage(?)/ whatever your local car shop is called.
However, I have also heard that the CAI on a S/C leads to too lean of a mixture and based on that I would not recommend that you pursue this idea, as it may lead to sputtering, stalling and maybe throw a CEL.
So have fun and tell us what happens if you end up doing this (don't take my help with the CAI as an indicator that this is a good idea I don't think it is unless you have the means to correct the problems that might arise).

Spectre is good for N/A applications. It won't hold boost though - you don't want to go from the SC to the Throttle body with spectre piping.
If you do a search, you'll see that CAI's on SC's lean out on the A/F ratio using the TRD ECU Map. I'd only do it with fuel management. Without it, you'd probably do damage to your engine.

Ok...
So sounds like I'll be scratching the SC/CAI idea...I definitely want to stay away from leaning out the A/F mixture. (I'll be sending back the Injen CAI I ordered last week...)
What are some good alternatives to boosting HP?

umm recommend what part exactly? and depends more one what ur lookin for..
header, if u got money and want to get the most out of them, then the MMW 4-2-1 should be the way to go..i bought the AW header couple months before word about the MMW header even came out. but im pretty satisfied with the 4-1 header. i took the header off when i went to get the s/c warrantied and there is a noticeable difference when header on and header off with the s/c. while the header was off, i decided to get it coated by swayntech, and the temperature reduction is amazing! CAI before s/c i didnt feel much of a difference but it does improve performance (jus not enough for u to feel it lol). umm draxas s-pipe is a great piece. i wanted a quiet exhaust so i got the sp2. bought the 2.5" midpipe from kytc, it has 2 resonators on it to quiet the exhaust with the header on. btw, i wouldnt recommend any header + trd exhaust combo. its jus grossly loud..might be some ppl's cup of tea but not mine.
hope this helps!

Hey yeah, thanks...
I DO have the TRD exhaust...maybe a mistake if I'm considering the upgraded header? I think I'm willing to experiment with the "grossly loud" sound the 4-2-1 header-to-TRD exhaust will provide...but if you like a modest exhaust sound as much as I do...maybe I shouldn't do it.
Still looking for the right product I guess.
