Supercharger / Oil Catch Can Set-up
#62
ok so... i couldnt get the damn thing to work right.
i had the pcv leading to the intake manifold leading to the input on the can, and it just would sputter and die. so i switched it to the output on the can, and it worked. though, i smelled some gassy smell at first, and some burning when id rev it up. so im not sure if this is right...
also, i now have a 1-drop oil leak.

^ You have the DC3, correct?
There shouldn't be any oil leak as the hoses don't actually move oil, they move air pressure with oil vapor.
all you need to do is drain it and I think you only have to do it once a year or so. Since they're small they don't hold much. My plan is to pull the wheel well liner back and put a soda can with the top cut off or a glass under it.

yeah the oil leak is coming from either the oil pan or the filter. not sure yet... its just in that area. actually i havent seen a drop today yet.
also, just meant in the instructions for it, said it needed to be cleaned out with a water-based solution. not sure what that means :D it is a filter after all...
i still kind of smell gas but maybe the piping isnt clamped well enough. ill check it over again when i can!

Water based? Really? I would think if you ever had to really wash it out you'd use a solvent of some sorts that would evaporate since you can't open the can ...and the fact that oil repels water so the stainless filter would just gum up with sludge.
I suppose if you mixed water with with dish soap or something and agitated it a bit it would work. But then you'd have to wait for it to dry.

yeah i'll just email the guy about it, ask him what he meant by that..
i think one of the tubes isnt on tight enough as i still smell gas on occasion, but there is no fuel leak, and thats the only thing i changed, the piping on the pcv. i'll have to look into that. this is becoming a bigger pain that it has to be haha

"Yeah, it is better to use something safe like detergent cleaners, like
Simple Green, 409, etc.
The trick is to fill up a bucket with warm water and cleaner. Then you
open the drains on the OCC and dunk it until it fills up some.
After a little soaking, you need to shake it and then let it dry out in
the sun.."
