Default t3/t4 57 Trim Turbo

Okay guys, a buddy of mine is selling his use t3/t4 57trim nonballbearing turbo to me for $200 bucks, he had originally planned to use it on his 4g64 eclipes project, but went with a bigger turbo.

Is it worth it?

Need opinions...

Is it made Garrett or some other well known company? I'd say that's a very good deal, considering those go new for about $550-$600. I'd like to see what one of those is capable of on a tC.

There are plenty of built Honda guys runnings those making 400whp and I'm not even talking B, K-series guys, I'm talking D-series guys making 400whp with those. That was actually the turbo I was thinking of building my custom kit around.

Do it!

I'll be more then happy to tell you what it is capable of as soon as Paul ships mine out, should be really soon. But its a great turbo for everyday driving, wont be in boost unless you wanna, overall great choice.

Mine will see boost around 2700-2800, and that's on a 2.0L. I'm sure it'll spool a bit quicker on the tC 2.4L.

That's pretty quick spool, faster than I would expect on a 2.0L car. Is your Focus built?

I don't have a Focus.

And no my ZX2 isn't built. It'll start seeing boost at 2700-2800 in 3rd/4th/5th gear. Can't really tell you about the first two gears since they just spin as soon as I hit boost (2nd will hook sometimes >.>)

57 Trim is a decent turbo. I am going to tune a custom D17 (1.7L SOHC Civic 01-05) on one next week. We started this week, but ran into fuel delivery probs, which he is correcting. Would be fun as can be on this car.

I'm thinking about buying the Crower stroker kit for the Focus and building a motor ;) (same block on the zx2/focus).

It is a bit small for a 2.4 liter to be honest with you. You will max out the hot side pretty easily if you have a built motor. Not well matched to the Tc motor. Works fine if stock engine I guess and will spool quick. Should be using a 0.82-0.84 hot side AR ratio though.

I'm running the .63 a/r on the hot side. Makes a killer top end on my ZX2

.63 is fine on this car for a DD car. Depending on the 'Stage' of that .63; a Stage 3 is mildly laggy to some. Especially with the short redline....
