Default To those with hard pressure plates!!!

To those who have hard pressure plates and wanna know the damage it can do. well here are some pictures. I had my clutch not even a year. My thrust bearing popped out of the journal and the other one was bent also. The crank grinded every single journal. It grinded it so much that you can probably fit a thrust bearing in each journal lmao. By the way I was using clevite bearings. Getting another block this weekend thanks to mike (Mtuned) and should be done by next week. By the way I had the act extreme pressure plate which is rated to 645trq and 70% over stock pressure.

Nope. ____ this car and putting money into. Fixing it and chilling for a while. Putting the act street pressure plate and raising the boost until I break 500 and calling it a day. E85 here I come. Oh and Mtuned also. Gonna make the most out of my 875cc and that's it concentrate on suspension/traction.

So the thrust washer isnt the culprit? It for sure was the pressure plate.

quick question, hard pressure plates are used on those puck style clutches right not on the newer street discs?

The pressure plate either with a sprung or unsprung disk. Doesn't matter. 4 puck or 6 puck. Doesn't matter. Pressure plate was culprit and maybe bearing also. Act does have the highest rated disk clutches but comes with a price to pay. The street pressure plate which is only 30% pressure over stock is good. And rated to 545trq.

Interesting. We running out of options other than Twin Disc. CC Stg 4 is an Epic Fail also.

Street pressure plate is rated to 545trq and as much pressure as other clutches on the market which is 30% which is not bad.

Reckon that's pretty good. What's the pedal feel like with the street one? Stiffer than stock by what % would you say? More pressure gives feedback for me, so stock feel I don't really like all that much. To soft.

If my hp goal was around 500 I would without a doubt use the Spec 3+. It is a full faced disc with a torque rating of 460. I have installed and used many different clutches in many different applications and this clutch is by far the best street clutch I have used.

i was riding in my friend's low 400whp tc that had a spec stage 3+ clutch when the clutch gave out. it literally exploded sending shrapnel through the bell housing. the clutch was broke in, and still pretty new when this happened. dont buy it.

I have heard almost nothing but terrible experiences with Spec. Blowing up, locking together, etc. With so-so at best help from spec on the issues. And as many of these issues on cars that are road course, autox and street driven. Not even high boosted drag race applications. I wouldnt touch them with someone else's tranny

Ben's was fairly new and on the road travelling to one of the One Lap stops when it completely failed and locked together. Had to trailer the car all the way back. Last I heard the only failure he could find was within the clutch assembly itself.

to me it feels like its 50% stiffer...it is very noticable but you get used to in within a day..its hard though to go back to stock from this...it feels sooooo wrong...lol
