let's be kind to trd now. c'mon, they didn't have a lot of time to develop the supercharger, nevertheless the papers and whatnot...

The "mystery tube" is actually a helpful thing if you don't want your car resonating inside at 5K+. Makes everything much quieter. I put mine back in.

Also don't forget to replace the paper filter in the kit with K&N ;)
Yea i put it back already. i havent cruised on the freeway with it. The TRD s/c reflash kit hasnt came in, im getting ____ed off already at my dealer.

Maybe later im thinking of buying an extra HC filter if i can then i will gut the middle of it, as far as the K&N i will buy one for sure later on after i get the reflash before the dyno.

------------------------------

I bought the TRD boost gauge tho for 90+
-I dont need to hear why did i buy it when it only goes up to 10psi
-I know its autometer
-I know its mechanical
-I will contact vortech/TRD to find the right line to tap

for other who dont know its this

* i will try to located another gauge to keep.

I think that mystery tube is to trick the sensor so boost dosn't make it throw codes.

I dont think so...Im pretty sure its to keep air turbulence going through the MAF to a minimum to ensure some accurate MAF readings, but I could be wrong...I kept it in the xB w/ my turbo setup, and never really tried messing around w/ it so who knows.

Yea but I still dont think thats right. Its more like as turbulent air goes through the MAF inlet, it is hard for the MAF sensor to get an accurate reading, and in result effecting your A/F ratios and Gas mileage as well. The car may bog down without it in there but wouldnt necessarily throw any codes because the MAF sensor is still doing its job, its just working twice as hard as its supposed to. Im sorry boxman, I wasnt trying to sound negative on the last post with my "I dont think so". This is why I hate the internet cause when used in different context , the same phrases could mean two totally different things.
The funny thing is after I wrote that and read the post I said to myself, I hope he doesnt take this the wrong way lol

Couple of things I thought I should share.

got my K&N couple of days ago. can't feel or hear any difference. Cone routed inside the fender might be a better choice.

HC filter - you can carefully cut the plastic "rivets" and take out the filter together with the inner frame. Nothing is really damaged, so you can put it back in any time.

Parts to take off
- Intake tube inside airbox
Leave it there. You'll get way too much funny noises with it out.
Parts to custom
- replace BPV with something of higher quality than some cheap bosch plastic
Looked at it tonight when I was tapping in the boost gauge. Should be a piece of cake to replace if you can find a correct replacement.

well, living in "SoCal", he might want to stick with the stock air-box set-up (to pass the visual test at least). i mean, us SoCal guys/gals only have a supercharger so far [CARB and warrenty blah], and i wouldn't want to jeapordize warranty/smog with a custom cone setup. he could get away with the hc filter element removal, but other than that, we're limited.

quick question.......... when you go get the s/c installed, do you have to have the stock airbox on? or can you just leave an aftermarket intake?
