TRD auto supercharger kit ??'s
Ok the TRD auto kit was released not too long ago...(*at least according the the thread i just read) and i just wanted to ask a few ?'s
I'm a newb at Scions, im used to domestics more then imports, but gas on the chevy was killing me, so i had to trade it in
After driving my tC for a few days now, i've fell in love with it.
now im looking into modding it, but not mega, mega changes. One kit that stuck out was the TRD supercharger, especially since its warranty run with the 60000 mile powertrain warranty.
anyways, here the ?'s
has anybody dynoed these kits on an auto?
how severly did this affect gas mileage?
anyproblems getting kit installed, or having it installed by dealer?
What would be the best intake(this will start a war) to run with the supercharger, and are any of them leaning toward CARB legal??
Does anyone have a complete TRD system(intake, s/c, exhaust)? and if so, what were the dyno numbers?
Where is the best(IYO, by price and service) place to purchase TRD parts?
thanks for helping out the noob

well none of your questions can be really answered yet.
except the intake one can be half answered: there are no intakes that are built to be used with the supercharger, i think the umnitza one can work but that one was just lucky.
and other people have been chopping other intakes to fit.
none are carb legal.
if i am wrong someone please correct me.

No one intake for the tC is legal. Any aftermarket intake added to the S/C will directly effect and VOID the vehicle warranty. Not trying to be a kill joy just trying to inform the new people. There are a few people who have purchased auto kits from us but not one could make it to a dyno as of yet. The S/C should nto effect your gas milage in a negative way if you drive normal. If you drive like a maniac (like me) the your gas mileage is going into the crapper. Hope this helps you out.

NOTHING EVER VOIDS THE VEHICLE WARRANTY. I paid for it it will still be there. They just might not **HONOR** the ENGINE warranty.
I am sure if I add an intake and the rear axle snaps my warranty will be covered.
I HATE THE WORD VOID USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH WARRANTY.
Sorry for sound hostile. Just see this so much.

i agree but in terms of the superchargers warrenty TRD says that if you do anything to the supercharger the superchargers warrenty will be voided.

If you change the pulley or add a header or and intake you will VOID the engine and powertrain warranty. That is a fact and it can happen becuuse it is stated in the S/C warranty. You don't just void the warranty on the S/C.

Gas mileage really depends on the way you drive. Getting a supercharger will probably only negatively affect mileage 1-2 mpg. HOWEVER, the fact of the matter is, once people install their supercharger, they drive much more aggressively with their newfound power. Thus, their mileage drops.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason the auto SC kit was delayed for so long was because TRD was working on a way to make sure the auto tC's gained as much hp from the setup as the manual ones.
However, using common sense, auto trannies have more drivetrain loss than manual trannies and therefore, their total wheel horsepower might not be the same as a manual tC because of extra drivetrain loss. Both cars have the same hp at the fly, but at the wheels between an auto and a manual I believe it is slightly off.
Good luck.

They were working on the 2nd reflash for the ECU so it would hold gears longer. That's what the hold up was for the auto.

OH trust me I've asked and the response I got was "TRD has never recommended the ues of a cold air intake with a supercharger".

Call TRD and ask them. That the exact same answer I get everytime I ask. I would have to say that it's probably not safe to run a CAI with any F/I car. The reason being is that more air is being pulled through the filter and that means more pressure. So if the filter gets wet it's more likely to pull water into the engine. That's the only logical explanation I can come up with.
